Where have all the pretty frocks for girls gone?

MIL has kindly given me £40 with the instruction to buy a dress for DD's birthday (6) on her behalf. I thought I'd easily find something at Boden but I can only see casual dresses (cord, jersey etc). I think MIL wants her to have something a bit more special for parties. I also had a look at Monsoon, JL and M&S but wasn't inspired.

So where have all the frocks gone? Are the shops waiting for it to feel a bit more autumnal before they bring out all their A/W stock?

Has anyone seen anything lovely?

Monsoon always seems to have smart things. Have you looked there?

I have. There's one dress that might do but nothing that really grabs me.

Next always have pretty sparkly party type dresses and John Lewis is also worth a look.

I used to find nice dresses at Matalan when dd was that age, I'm not sure what they have now though (and you have to filter out some of the stuff that's a bit 'teenage')
