Can anyone help me find a ring for my mum's 70th?

She is after a gold and turquoise ring and she prefers larger, rather than daintier / antiquey styles.

I have a budget of 200-300 and am looking for some help finding some good quality but not crazy price jewellers - stuff like Links / Monica Vinader etc.

I have trawled Etsy, John Lewis, House of Fraser, and then various 'big name' jewellers, which are either a bit trashy or ridiculously out of my league.

Can anyone help point me in some new directions?

I have just got 3 stacking rings from Astley Clarke and one is a turquoise stone in a gold setting - really pretty. It looks lovely just on its own, doesn't need to be with anything else. Think it was about £100 from Selfridges in Manchester (slightly cheaper online).

Astley Clarke?
Notonthehighstreet?

Anything here? You can customise the metal and stone for each design to come up with something you want and the prices are very good as the jewellery is made overseas.

eBay for that sort of thing. And try to find a private seller.

Just had a quick look - there's loads and you may have enough for earrings or pendant as well.

I have a gold eternity ring with turquoise from Pepperpink designs, around the £300 mark.

I love his jewellery, and he will custom make for you, you can pick whatever stone you would like..

Thanks for all these ideas! I had seen the Astley Clarke stacking rings, and thought they were lovely, but I think they are a bit delicate for my Mum's taste.

Can anyone enlighten me - what is 'vermeil'?

Am going to check out the DD2 and Pepperpink designs now, and ebay....

Vermeil is 18 carat gold over sterling silver. The turquoise stone ring on its own is fairly delicate but with the others it looks chunky and bold - they definitely need to be tried on.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I have emailed DD2.co.uk and he can make just what I am after and within budget so I think I will go for that!
