Giant Houndstooth Pattern - WTF?

What on earth is up with the giant houndstooth patterns? Houndstooth is meant to be woven into fabric, not printed on top, in giant patterns, ludicrously pixelated!

I am really oblivious to styles, but this one is really annoying me. Anyone else?

Houndstooth is fine, as a small pattern, but giant, it looks horrible.

The huge pattern is grim. I don't mind the odd bit of puppytooth though.

I like it fine if it's "real" (i.e. not printed on!). You can't have it real and huge, not unless the fabric is really unwearably thick, I think.

It is extremely unflattering imo, makes the skinny models look like heifers!
