Just had colours done & I am a (soft) Autumn. Advice needed!

I am apparently a soft autumn - I thought I would definitely be a winter as I have dark brown, almost black hair, pale skin and green/brown eyes.

Most of my work wardrobe is black, grey and navy which I have been told to avoid - what can I do to salvage it, if anything.

Any shops particularly good for autumns? Also, is the Kettlewell catalogue any good in real life?

Any other advice much appreciated.

I'm a deep autumn! Kettlewell stuff is great quality but not the most cutting edge styles and expensive. I really recommend Uniqlo as a place to stock up on coloured basics - good on quality and price. Lots of tealy greens and beiges in their new tops I see. Also off-whites.

If you get some tops in your colours you can keep wearing your 'wrong' trousers while you phase them out.

I'm a leaf autumn. Kettlewell stuff is well made and great for basics that wash well if not the most fashionable. Love Uniqlo too.
There is a fair bit of old gold/mustard around this season in places like H&M and Zara which i wear on top quite a lot. Also brick red which was one of my 100% colours.
Which colours were your 100% colours?

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 06/09/2014 21:43

my 100% colours were bronze, geranium, moss green, tan, rosewood, old gold, apple jade.

Also v good: dark brown, coral, oyster, light sage, dark olive, kingfisher, brick.

Rosewood is gorgeous but so hard to find. If you find anything do let me know. This is not much help but I'm struggling with finding things this season. Keep an eye on the autumn thread for ideas as the people on there are great.

I don't any particular shop is good for Autumn colours - I would figure out which colours really suit you - and then look across the board.

I don't wear black or grey near my face, and I think it's ageing to wear dark colours next to your face as you get older, but they're fine for bottom halves with a more suitable colour on top. So - I wear black trousers/skirts with cream, pink, apricot, red, gold, or animal print tops, for example. Grey bottoms I wear with cream, pale pink etc. Navy bottoms you could recycle with a Bretton style stripe top and a light jacket.

If you have black or grey suits you could add a vest or blouse underneath in a really beautiful colour for you - a good pink for example - and/or a scarf with the right colours on.

I wear browns, olives, creams, oatmeals, earthy pinks, dark reds, damsons, golds, bronzes, if that's any help...

think

Oh and camel. Yes camel is very useful - you can put it with black & navy.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 09/09/2014 19:04

Twinkle that is actually really reassuring, thank you! Out of c.10 or 12 suits and dress + jacket or skirt + blouse combos I have only 2 or 3 that are in autumn colours (tweed mixes and one dark brown suit). The others are all black, grey and navy!

I'll definitely look for scarves etc in good colours. Geranium for instance was a ** 100% for me, and old gold. They'd look good with navy.
