Is it ok to wear red shoes to my Christmas wedding?

Ok so I have a pale gold/champagne coloured dress. It's not a traditional wedding dress but a knee length wedding dress.
It's a very small scale affair with close friends and family. I'm thinking red roses, with Christmas foliage.
Would red shoes and maybe a wrap look awful/ tacky? I'm struggling to find shoes that match the dress so thought a contrast may be good?

I think red shoes would look a odd, but red roses & Christmas foliage would be lovely.

Personally I would go for gold/metallic/champagne satin.

You can have shoes dyed to match the dress.

littlesupersparks · 05/09/2014 21:20

I did :-) short dress, red shoes and a hooded cape :-) I only got compliments. Do what you want. We were married on the 20th December. We had crazy snow and the shoes were fab.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 05/09/2014 21:20

Oh I think a deep dark red would be lovely!

Nancery · 05/09/2014 21:21

Of course it's ok - they would be barely seen anyway, and if you love them - go for it! Not so sure re the wrap though, but shoes could look great

PCBurnsarrestedme · 05/09/2014 21:21

I had red jacket, gold skirt, red shoes - do it!

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 05/09/2014 21:22

As long as you don't mind drunken uncles making inappropriate comments about "know what they say about women wearing red shoes" why not.

But if you've got months then why not get a pair dyed to match the dress perfectly. Loads of places will do that for you.

Justwhateverreally · 05/09/2014 21:23

It's your wedding, wear whatever you want to.

ineedsomeinspiration · 05/09/2014 21:24

Yes I was thinking of deep dark red not post box red. I know not traditional but then I'm not.
When I brought the dress I found a pair of shoes in the sale that were the exact same colour but for some daft reason I decided not to buy them.
Gold is the other choice but just thought red would be Christmassy. It's on the 23rd so almost Christmas.

It's a short dress so would be seen.

I thought it was red hat no knickers?

I wore red shoes. They looked great.

Tallypet · 05/09/2014 21:27

I think it would suit the theme. Red with champagne dress would look so cute. Not bright PVC red though.
I'd have loved a wintery Christmas wedding, so romantic.
Like other PP's said - your wedding your rules Smile

Nancery · 05/09/2014 21:27

Red shoes can be great - do it!

MrsLettuce · 05/09/2014 21:33

these are very Christmassy, but only tiny sizes left
these too, to my mind, but the price isn't pleasant

trixymalixy · 05/09/2014 21:38

Looove those second shoes MrsLettuce!

ineedsomeinspiration · 05/09/2014 21:42

There are lovely MrsLettuce but sadly I can no longer wear pointy toed shoes due to damage I've done to my feet squeezing my feet in to high ones too many times in the past. Sad

chunky heel

MrsLettuce · 05/09/2014 21:56

too daft/high?

ineedsomeinspiration · 05/09/2014 22:06

Think those red ones are a bit too chunky but lovely colour.

I love those green with star ones, they are gorgeous and not too high not sure what the oh would think though. Might buy them regardless of wedding.

Was going to go for a pale brown fake fur wrap thing prior to the red shoe idea, would it still go?

If I wasn't thinking red Christmas type bouquet then I'd be tempted by purple shoes it's my 100% favourite colour.

Romcom · 05/09/2014 22:17

I had a knee length champagne coloured dress with red rose bouquet and deep red shoes and bolero. I felt a million dollars!

ineedsomeinspiration · 05/09/2014 22:27

Thanks Romcom, it seems I've not gone and then.
I really like these www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_54510+750411932_-1

If you love purple get a nice pair of purple / plum shoes (and you'd be more likely to wear again)

Your bouquet could be shades of red and purple.
Though my heart would go with a gorgeous dark green and red flowers with foliage.

(BTW - red shoes when I was a teen were Hookers Shoes Wink . I had a pair and loved them - didn't do any hookering though ....)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/09/2014 22:32

gorgeous dark green shoes that should be

Karbea · 05/09/2014 22:33

Yes why not? I wore blue.
