Please help me accessorise this dress for a Wedding

Hi,
My friend is getting married in November and I bought this dress
www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_58607+2224859080_-1
I didn't buy it specifically for the wedding but now I am wondering if it would be ok to wear this to it? If so, what shoes, bag and accessories would you wear with it? Would I need a wrap or coat or something over the top and any suggestions?
Thank you all.

Love that dress! (Pity it's sold out.)
I think it's defo fine for a wedding. Although it's black it's a bit blingy and an interesting design.

I'm not much use for accessorising, but maybe something like a long necklace? Hope an expert comes along soon for you Smile

Well I wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I'm willing to try. I would accsories with red. Red necklace (long) A red braclet. Red bag. Red tights and black shoes. or you could wear nude tights/false tan with red shoes. If you're into hair accseories a red slide and red nails. Sounds like (well it is) a lot of red but it will look nice.

Iliveinalighthouse thank you for your suggestions. I was thinking about red or maybe even a pink colour. Would you wear a wrap or something with this?

Big white hat, small white bag, black & white heels. Modern interpretation of the Audrey Hepburn look at the races in My Fair Lady.

I think it will make a difference if the wedding is all inside / one venue - in which case you won't need to be worrying about Winter footwear and keeping warm - or if it's a Church or registry office, then photos, then off to another venue for the Reception ?

LS24 · 08/09/2014 11:29

The wedding will be in a church and then we head off to somewhere else for the reception. It will have outdoor barns etc and the meal will be served in a converted one of those.

I wouldn't wear a wrap personally, but I think one (a wrap) would look nice

MimiSunshine · 08/09/2014 15:47

Personally i wouldn’t go for red, it can look very dramatic with black or it can look a bit cheap.

As its a November wedding how about blues, greens / peacock colours? I’d go for teal, very dark turquoise, electric blue or emerald green shoes and feathery fascinator with a simple long gold chain and pendant and a few gold bangles and the odd (which ever shade you pick) blue / green mixed in.

LoveVintage · 08/09/2014 16:25

I'd give it a vintagey vibe (obvs) and either go with the Audrey Hepburn idea above, or go for a dusky pink hairpin, shawl and maybe dull gold shoes.

TheTravellingLemon · 08/09/2014 16:34

I would go for a black hat and wrap for the church and a big gold bangle/s and big gold earrings. No neckless and bight 'statement' shoes. Maybe in orange.

I would definately add a colour to that otherwise it's going to look like you are going to a funeral. Are you going to wear a hat? If so I would pick a cream hat with some black in it and maybe add another colour depending on your skin tone but gold or silver would look nice at that time of the year (silver more difficult but most hat shops will add some feathers or fru fru in to a hat if you ask), you cold even go with a black hat with some cream and gold or just gold. I would get a bag in the same colour as the additional colour you are adding and stick to either black tights and shoes or nude tights and shoes the same colour as the bag (bit of controversy on here as to whether to have shoes and bag that match though!) Depending on your skin tone and additional colour choice, silver or gold necklace, earings etc
