How to brush hair without tons coming out

I have fine hair (although still quite a bit of it), but I find loads comes out in the brush whenever I brush it. I try to be as gentle as possible and use a decent quality brush, but still happens. Am mid-40s and have nasty visions of thinning menopausal hair - not a look I am keen to channel….. Anyone have any advice? Are there any shampoos that help with this? Saw some Pantene one claiming to strengthen hair advertised somewhere, but have no idea whether claims are utter baloney. TIA .

Always start at the bottom and work your way up in sections . It's very normal
To lose hair though . I have thick hair and lose about a fistful every day .

My hair is thinning although not menopause-related. I use a leave in conditioner then detangle first with a detangling comb followed by a brush if I need to. Even doing this loads always comes out - I sympathise with you, it's no fun. No shampoo I've tried has helped me I'm afraid.
