Accessories to jazz up a minimalist/plain wardrobe?

My current style can be described as boring but I would rather sum it up as follows... Classic, minimalist, normcore (blergh hate that term), attempting to be French/Parisian chic... I'm mid 20s, long hair and petite if that makes a difference. I try to choose stylish over fashionable.

My wardrobe favourites mostly consists of dark skinny jeans, plain long sleeved shirts in black, grey, dark colours and white, bretons, plain boat neck jumpers, skater skirts and dresses, etc. I don't get along well with heels... In winter I live in knee length black riding style boots which I'm not sure are really that stylish...

Anyway, I need to accessorise and was hoping for some MN inspiration! I am mostly thinking scarves, silver jewelery, nice handbags, hair accessories etc. to make my beloved, boring repetitive outfits classy yet slightly more interesting.

I like the sound of your style!

What's your budget? If its not much, I would pool all your money and buy one really nice thing, like a chunky silver ring, or simple necklace that you can wear with everything. Have a look in local independent contemporary jewellers, you might be surprised at how little it costs to get something pretty original.

Or, and I know its not strictly an accessory, but I love patent shoes. Plain, but patent, black ballerinas or brogues or loafers would look great with your clothes and there are loads about this winter at all price ranges. I've just picked up these and can't wait to wear them with dark jeans, or with black tights and short skirts, or with black trousers

www.clarks.co.uk/p/26103928 (busby folly in black patent if that doesn't work)

there was a 20% code floating about for Clarks and go through Quidco for a bit of cashback too...
