What to wear to a christening?

Any christenings I've been to before have been proper posh doos, however I have one next month which will definitely be more smart/casual than full on posh. What do I wear? The extra difficulty is it's my niece's christening and I've been asked to be godmother so feeling the pressure!

What size are you? What colours and styles do you like?

Longleggedlovely · 01/09/2014 10:02

Size 14, 6ft, 36" inside leg. Love bright rich colours!

Oh, we'll get you sorted. What sort of budget? Do you have shoes or a bag or anything you'd like to use?

Longleggedlovely · 02/09/2014 17:07

Thank you, bags and shoes I can manage in most colours, styles etc it was an idea of what might be appropriate. Don't think a dress is really in order as it isn't a posh do but neither are jeans appropriate and thereafter I'm struggling!

There are plenty of smart day dresses that aren't to OTT. I'm afraid it's Boden but how about something like this?

With some berry coloured tights and mary-jane shoes?

I'm not a fan of the slacks and blouse combo which I think is your other option.

I think being godmother means you go on the smart side of smart / casual.

Decent day dress, with good sleeves so you can wrangle with a small child without worrying about flashing cleavage etc

FamiliesShareGerms · 02/09/2014 20:04

I like this, but probably too short

Too dark?
