In laws have requested a family photo shoot for thier 40th wedding anniversary. Its booked for a few weeks time. I have no idea what to wear! Brother and Sis in law are very dress down so will no doubt be in jeans and top so don't want to dress up over the top so thinking dark denim jeans and a nice top? Anyone seen anything nice? dressy but not too much if you see what I mean.
I'm a size 14.

Anyone?

Would patterned or plain be better? Any idea on colours? The backdrop will be white.

I think the key is to keep it simple eg a classic Breton striped top, perhaps a soft chambray shirt, smart jeans or cigarette pants. Boden would be my first port of call.

You really need to speak to your brother and sil and get some kind of loose uniformity between you all. You could agree a colour palette - say black, grey and white, and then pick a colour you can all wear different shades of without it clashing horribly. Most photographers won't mind you taking a couple of changes of clothes and they should have somewhere for you to change. Long sleeves and long trousers work better on adults (the eye naturally goes to expanses of skin). No big logos, and don't wear anything that creases too easily, or is a bit shabby looking, and make sure shoes are clean! If you're having a wacky Venture style shoot they may well want you barefoot, so paint your toes!

I like the idea of coordinating colours. I don't think Bro and sis wouldn't be up for that though. Plus the parents too, it would be far too much hassle. I might try suggesting we keep it simple though and hint at colours. I know they will dress my Niece in bright colours.

We are having small family pics too as well as whole family pics so may take coordinating stuff for us 4 to wear for that.

Oh and we will be bare feet as we aren't allowed shoes on the backdrop apparently so good point about the toes! :) Best sort the trotters out!

Definitely try to match style. We also had a shoot yesterday for the in laws and BIL and his DP showed up in scruffy jeans, trainers and tops despite a phone conversation where DH told them no jeans and smart casual. So I was wearing a lovely dress and felt overdressed ...

We've done this in the past and coordinating not matchy looks best. My inlaws weren't really up for it so we decided on jeans and white or white with pattern tops. I wore skinny jeans with a chambray type blouse, big earrings and bracelets to make it me. DH and BIL wore jeans and a shirt, SIL wore white tshirt and jeans. Looked great!
