I appear to be incapable of buying clothes any more

It's getting a bit ridiculous, and my clothes are starting to get worn out. So much high street stuff just seems either too teenage, terrible quality, or just plain frumpy. I don't want to buy from Fat Face or Boden or anywhere that sells effing "ditzy print"!

I do like the look of the stuff in Cos, but can someone with norks and hips and a flabby gut get away with that look? And where else do you shop for more interesting, grown-up looking (and not designer price) clothes?

I feel your pain. I like Cos and also Agnes B. Sometimes Whistles. And I think the flabbier we get, the more important it is to have 'proper' clothes in good fabrics. Watching this thread for other suggestions of good hunting grounds...

what age are you (dont want to insult you if you are too young) dont like fat face or boden . Cos a bit shapeless . what about sandwich, great plains, part two

The White Company?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 22:05

I like some Whistles stuff (sales only) and the odd bit from Cos, plus a few (plain) bits from M&S and the v odd thing from Warehouse/Oasis/Mint Velvet and Hobbs (sales only). I also get the occasional gem in charity shops.

Tbh though I tend to live in skinny jeans when not at work.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 22:06

Yes to the occasional WC bit too, and also odd bits in Topshop.

Am late 30s and a SAHM, but getting weary of wearing jeans every bloody day!

Sorry Remus, replied before reading your post about wearing skinny jeans - didn't want to seem like I was responding aggressively to that! Grin Wouldn't have thought of White Company - really only know them as the place to get fancy dressing gowns. Will have a look.

Gap or banana republic. I buy a lot of stuff from walking shops too as it fits well is very hard wearing and comfortable. I do like some fat face stuff mainly cords and shirts. I'm trying active wear next no idea it will look any good on me and it's hennes I too am lost with no idea how to find a look that feels right.

AbsintheMakesTheHeart · 29/08/2014 22:29

I like White Company stuff but it's flipping expensive, which puts me off wearing it for every day. But I've had some stonking bargains on eBay - great jersey dresses that are fab with tights and boots.
