Uniqlo Sizing: serious lack of post 28s

After being recommended on Mumsnet I decided to try on a pair of Uniqlo super stretch skinnies in the Regent's Street store. Unfortunately, despite having racks and racks of jeans they mostly had sizes 22 up to 28 and precious little else. I managed to find one pair of 32s which were a little large, but there was naff all choice so I left empty handed.

Is this normal in one of their flagship stores? I realise that being a Japanese company that they'd concentrate on the smaller sizes, but hmmm.

Regent st is smaller than the one in Oxford St. It can still be hit and miss but they do run out of popular sizes quite often.
I think 32 is the top end of the size range and yes, being Japanese they might make fewer larger sizes. Have you looked online?

gerbiltamer · 28/08/2014 22:16

I didn't think of trying Oxford Street, but I will. I did try looking online but it seemed to be one of those non-vending ones?

what's non-vending?

Pinkfrocks · 28/08/2014 22:20

here
you can order

but if you want the leg length altered you have to do it in store

The one down Oxford St towards Bond Street usually has better stock levels than the one opposite M&S, both of which are usually better than Regent St ime. Those jeans are worth finding, I'm living in mine at the moment :)

The one opposite J lewis is the flagship store and as the PP says- better levels of stock.

Their sizing is bizarre. I would expect 28 = 10 but a Uniqlo 28 is far bigger than a size 10. Maybe you don't actually need the size you think you should iyswim?

Thanks all - I shall take a wander next Tuesday after work. I need to drop two stone and probably fit into the 31 as the 32 fitted a tiny bit loosely and knowing how much skinny jeans stretch I'll take that into consideration. I am very happy for MN S&B for suggesting them though as they felt so comfy compared to other skinnies :)

Hi does anyone know if they come up big or small? I can't get to a store, and from the measurements on the website I'm between two sizes - of course, can order both, but that's just a faff! TIA

PicnicGatecrasher · 29/08/2014 12:43

They come up big and they stretch, so go small as you dare.

SofaCanary · 29/08/2014 16:14

I'm a 28 in pretty much all jeans, except Uniqlo - had to get a 25.

They be big.

gerbiltamer · 29/08/2014 22:13

They seem big, as I recall their size 32 is supposed to equate to a UK18.

Eek!
I think it depends on which style.
I have their jeans in a 29 and 28 inch waist.
These are not skinnies- one is straight leg with no stretch at all and the other has some stretch and is a tapered slim leg.

I am a size 10 in all my other trousers including White Stuff and Boden.

I did quickly try on some of their stretchy jeans ( in a rush) and was getting ok with a 26 and 27- it depends how tight you like them- i don't like really skin tight jeans round the waist and tend to size up.

Brillenbar · 29/08/2014 22:51

These are the stretch skinniest I'm looking at. There is one size that looks like it's a little bit too small, so I'll try that, and the next size down I guess. Gulp. Vanity sizing or what! Thanks all
