Alternatives to Eve Lom Cleanser?

Just that, does anyone know of any good alternatives? I love it and it keeps my incredibly temperamental skin clearer than anything else I've found but it is eyewateringly expensive. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Is there no way you can keep using it by economising elsewhere? If it suits your skin...
Could he a false economy to buy something cheaper which isn't effective.

JRsandCoffee · 27/08/2014 12:11

I can keep using it, it's just that I'm out of the loop with what is new in terms of anything similar that might work and I do like to look at options. TBH one of the best stop gaps I've found is simple soap and a hot cloth but fear that might be a bit drying once the heating comes on!!

Hi JrsandCoffee, have you tried Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth?. Ive been using it for about 3 years. Its a cheaper alternative to Eve Lom and TBH I haven't noticed a difference. My skin is dry (isn) so not prone to breakouts blemishes etc Skin feels incredibly clean after and i smother in a really rich moisturiser afterwards.

REN hot cloth wash (or whatever it is called) is brilliant.

I use it with some bargain flannels from Dunelm. A clean one every day.

kittygirl33 · 27/08/2014 12:55

Ultrabland from Lush is cheap and cheerful and extremely good.

JRsandCoffee · 27/08/2014 13:07

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look at those!

Superdrug vitamin E hot cloth cleanser (as recommended on here) is lovely . I'm still on my first tube and have been pleasantly surprised.

Bambinho · 27/08/2014 13:30

I love Eve Lom too and have been using it for years. The only cheaper and satisfactory alternative I've found is Emma Hardie cleansing balm. Have to admit it's still at the pricey end but it's worth it. It comes with great double sided muslin/microfibre cloths too but the thing I love most about it is it smells divine.

noddyholder · 27/08/2014 13:32

Virgin vie one is close but nothing gives my skin the same glow. I use micellar water daily and then eve lom once a week

SofaCanary · 27/08/2014 19:37

I love the Elemis cleansing balm, just about to order my third!

LordEmsworth · 27/08/2014 20:31

I love Origins Clean Energy - soooo nice to massage in...

Caitmous · 27/08/2014 20:36

Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter. Yum

mipmop · 27/08/2014 20:57

Bambinho do you use the Emma Hardie moringa cleaner? You reminded me that I read about that one on Caroline Hirons' blog. I'll join the list of people open to alternatives to Eve Lom.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2014 21:02

Good Stuff Manuka Honey Cleanser and a muslin cloth . Lovely.

Bambinho · 27/08/2014 21:11

Yes mipmop it's the Moringa cleansing balm. Gives Eve Lom a good run for its money. Emma Hardie herself is occasionally on QVC with her products, she recommends using the Moringa balm as a treatment mask too. QVC often have really good offers so worth looking out for.

HolyQuadrityDrinkFeckArseGirls · 27/08/2014 21:12

Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil
Plus the muslin and hot water

goodasitgets · 27/08/2014 22:12

Balmology do a neroli one which is incredible but that's not mega cheap. However if I could use it for the rest of my life I would choose that one for the smell alone!

Clinique take the day off as above

Merumaya do a good balm and that's on qvc usually

Granard · 28/08/2014 17:13

I use Eve Lom and buy if from Look Fantastic.com. You can often get good deals. I got the 100ml for 50 euro (£39) recently and have got a free full size rescue mask in the past with a purchase of the 100ml cleanser. Worth keeping an eye on the site or signing up for email offers.

Clarabum · 28/08/2014 22:20

I used Eve Lom then switched to liz earle and I found there was a massive difference in quality. I'm running out so I might have a look on Lookfantastic. Cheers for the tip.

GaryShitpeas · 28/08/2014 22:39

Organic extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil

Slather on face, rub in, scrub off with a hot wrung out flannel

Seriously Cannot recommend enough

JRsandCoffee · 13/10/2014 22:27

I thought I would come back and say thanks again for all the suggestions. I've tried various things in the interim including the oil and as there seemed a few interested parties I thought I would share my big rediscovery Wink

Ponds cold cream, I honestly think it's better on my skin than even the Eve Lom...... Three pounds and fifty pence I think....

I was an Eve Lom addict, too, but decided to cut back on what insoend on beauty products last year.

Switched to Liz Earle, but it irritated my skin.

I now use Superdrug hot cloth cleanser. Its 4.99 and I swear to you, its a bloody good alternative!

Notabar · 13/10/2014 22:30

*what I spend

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/10/2014 23:10

I read on Caroline Hirons (is that her name?) That the body shop's Camomile balm cleanser is a dupe for clinique's take the day off cleanser.
