I am so bored of my hair! It reaches my collar bone, it's thick with a wave from my chin down but I seem to always have it pulled back in a ratty elastic band.

I want to chop it up to about chin length (it must tuck behind my ears when I'm working). Can't bear the feel of a fringe. I am also completely useless at working with hair but I love textured choppy hair. Could someone as useless as me manage a haircut like this picture? Is it one of those cuts that looks easy but takes loads of work?

I would be very grateful for any suggestions!

I love that type of style too. Over the years I've had my hair cut in similar ways to that, each time hopeful that this time it'll work. It doesn't for me. It's a deceptively high maintenance look unless you just happen to have the perfect hair type for it, which I sadly don't. It either ends up sitting flat if I straighten it, or it ends up all flicky and sticky outy and bushy if I don't, in a bad 80s grangehill school girl way instead of rock chicky way as per the picture you posted.

The hair in that photo has been worked on quite a bit - most likely straightened with the ends heat-bent plus loads of product. It is an extremely high-maintenance cut for someone with natural wave - unless you don't mind wearing it wild & flippy & nothing like the photo!
