what do you wear with a denim shirt?

I quite fancy a denim shirt but I am not sure what to wear it with. Double denim isn't for me, but I can't think of anything that would work.

Also, what kind of colour should I go for?

I wear it with some fawn-coloured jeans I own, or with some three-quarter length sort of pale chinos.

I went for dark denim as think it's more flattering, but I have a light-ish denim dress which I love too.

As long as you steer clear of double denim then you should be fine

I think they are really hard to get right unless you are very slim/flat chested. My friend wears short fitted one with black skinnies and a white vest and looks fab I would look like Dolly Parton

Black leather pencil skirt
Darker denim jeans - flares! With a thin gold belt, high wedges and thin but biggish gold hoops. Very 1970's and I love it!
Black leather midi flared / circle skirt (new, much adored purchase)
Printed cotton trousers with a vest
Ankle length chinos and loafers.

Black skinnies and tan ballet flats. Tan belt. Scarf.

Black maxi dress, black mid length body con style dress, black skater dress (I wear a lot of black).
Occasionally my maroon skinny jeggings xx

Here's me at Christmas wearing mine.

The new one? ASOS (but just checked and it's out of stock). I wear it with white Superga pumps, block heeled courts and a pair of block heeled sandals. I've got a pair of black heeled boots that I'll wear it with (more '70's!) and I'm going to get some flat black suede and leather boots.

Also remembered I've a black leather skater / ruffle mini that I wear the shirt with too.

And a pair of wet look leggings like that photo. And a pair of black leather biker jeans!

Seems I have a bit of a thing for leather!

I wear mine with black skinnies and also a striped jersey maxi skirt. Also contemplating wearing it with navy harems after seeing the idea above. I have a darkish one from New Look which has done two winters so far. One of my favourite things for cooler weather. I also like it with different colour vests or t shirts (long sleeved for colder weather).

I think I am sold on coloured jeans, black skinnies, leather (well pleather for me, my budget is tight).

I just need to decide between mid-blue, dark blue or grey.

I wear mine with white skinnies (Topshop Baxters) and blue tile print TS Leigh skinnies.

In winter I'll try my J Crew chambray shirt (in a dark wash) with black skinnies and maybe even a midi skirt and opaques.
