M&S voucher - what can I buy?!

Can anyone help please? My mum kindly gave me a voucher for £50 as I'm going back to work shortly and feeling massively out of touch! It's a creative workplace - lots of young, hip, skinny people looking fab and smart in casual clothes but as someone neither young, hip or skinny I was hoping to aim for smart casual. But am a bit worried about what's ok at m&s - I always think of it as frumpy and don't have time to try lots of things on. Has anyone bought anything good there recently?

Btw, I'm about 40, tall, wobbly of tummy and massive boobs (so no high necks please!)

THank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm terrible at piecing together outfits, always end up buying frumpy things that don't flatter my (far from) slim and toned tummy! But, I've found Pinterest a great help. Just search for work outfit and a whole host of outfits will come up. You can then pick ones that might work for you and then look for items that are similar to those in M&S? Obviously don't buy something that you aren't comfortable with... I've also tried adding trendy or young to the search criteria and it throws up a few more ideas.

Worth a quick look, anyway! Failing that, a nice scarf and well fitting pair of trousers are always a good choice Wink

Good luck!

What a lovely mum Smile

I'd get

5 pocket jeggings in slate grey - £22

A massive snakeskin scarf - £25

Or you could look at their footwear, loads of lovely casual and more formal shoes and boots.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, a lovely present, but kind of scary when I'm feeling frumpy anyway! In fact, the word 'jeggings' scares me - I'm still playing safe with boot cuts!! Not good, hey... My hips and boobs feel very tricky to dress these days.

But thanks so much - I'm going to look on pinterest and brave jeggings!

When I'm not feeling confident about my body shape, but still want to look good, I tend to go with "boring" clothes but "exciting" accessories. E.g. I'll wear a comfortable plain top paired with a plain skirt or trousers, then liven it up with my expensive handbag (yes I only have one expensive handbag!) and some nice earrings and heels.

An expensive coat/jacket will also be invaluable - choose a shape that flatters you, in a colour that you can easily pair with anything else in your wardrobe, and you'll get maximum use out of it :)
