Aaargh! What is the 'etiquette' wrt to what I should wear here?

Going abroad for my cousin's wedding in less than 3 weeks' time (if that bastard Icelandic vulcano allows…)
Have a dress and shoes and shawl and handbag - sorted.

TODAY my mother tells me that the bride's sister and her mum (my aunt) will be wearing long dresses. My uncle will be wearing a smoking. Apparently.
Nothing in the invitation about dress code.

So, do I just go ahead and wear what I had planned (perfectly nice silk shift and heels etc) or do I need to rethink everything? I don't have any kind of official function on the day btw if that makes a difference, and I will be there with 4 yo DS aka PacificSociopath. Sigh.

Tell me I can just wear what I've got.

I'd just wear what you've got and if everyone else is in long, then they'll just put it down to your english eccentricity

Well I think if they haven't specified a dress code then standard wedding attire is fine.

I would rather be slightly underdressed than find your mum has got the wrong end of the stick and you look like a wannabe bridesmaid

Wear what you have as let's face it your mum may well have got her wires crossed, then you'll be running round trying to find something for no reason.

I'm assuming your dress is not knicker skimmingly short in which case it sounds fine.
