Those flabby, freckly arms that older ladies have

I have them. Suddenly. I caught sight of my rear view in a lift and my arms are fat and flabby, covered in freckles and to top it all off, saggy elbows.

Is there anything I can do? I never go in the sun, I am about a stone overweight and I'm in my forties.

Thank you.

Ugh- elevator lighting always makes you look terrible. Apparently even that model that presents Americas Top Model has arm cellulite in lifts. You could do some tricep dips and press ups to give your arms more definition but not sure about the freckles.

I always think my elbows look too revolting but I'm sure our own self perceptions are not always accurate. I find it easy to say to other people but hard to do myself - I'm sure your arms and elbows are absolutely fine.

Doing lateral lifts with small (not heavy) rubber weights will tone up your arms in next to no time and with not much effort involved if you really feel self conscious about them.

Yoga plank pose is great for arms. Also learn to use your triceps day to day, eg if you're picking something up like a heavy shopping bag keep your elbows tucked in not angled out.

Lose weight. Do exercise. Confused

wildfig · 24/08/2014 08:25

Sleeves.

LadyFairfaxSake · 24/08/2014 13:38

Hmm, bingo wings... Sports shops now do weights designed for women. The weights are smaller than the ones for men & the hand grips are sized & sculpted to fit a female hand.
Gentle exercises will tone the biceps & triceps & give good definition.

Floisme · 24/08/2014 14:01

Another vote here for sleeves (except on holiday - you just have to take me as I am then). At 57, I'm not wasting the precious time I have left lifting fecking weights Grin

FoxyHarlow123 · 24/08/2014 14:31

Light weights won't do much. Youll be there til youre 142. You have to lift heavier to stand half a chance of getting some definition and tone. Heavier weights and less reps. And no, you won't build up big muscles!!

ShebaQueen · 24/08/2014 14:39

I'm 50 and overweight and mine are the same. I've found that dry brushing, loads of moisturiser and some fake tan really improves the way my arms look. As others have said, lifting weights sounds like hard work!

MalibuStacy · 24/08/2014 14:58

Good advice, thanks. Anything I can do about the age spots freckles?

Nowt wrong with freckles. I'm covered from head to toe and I love them.

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 24/08/2014 15:15

Freckles are good! I'm covered in them too and refuse to see it as a negative. There's nothing that will get rid of them anyway, short of expensive laser treatment and body make up a la Nicole Kidman.

MrsDavidBowie · 24/08/2014 15:22

Looks at 54 year old arms Sad
I do weights...6 kg in each hand. Does tone them.
But saggy elbows remain.

Floisme · 24/08/2014 15:29

That's why I don't bother and just wear sleeves MrsDavidBowie Annoyingly, my upper arms aren't that bad but my elbows are shot to hell.

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2014 15:38

Dad dancing (with your arms level to your shoulders, drop down from the elbows and go up and down) also the salaam movement is brill. Arnica oil is good for age spots, warts and wrinkly elbows. I second the fake tan My arms are firm and slim not too thin though (I have lost 3 stone !).

Do your freckles fade over the winter? I've noticed that the freckles on my face have almost disappeared since using facecream with an spf in it. I wonder if a bodycream with spf may have a similar result?

I do the boxing game on WiiFitU: seems to work and it's fun.
