School shoes for 9yr old dd?

She's a tomboy & has worn clarks before & scuffed them within 2 days. Admittedly patent shoes have proved to be more harder wearing, but at 9 yrs old, most patent school shoes look in her words 'too girly' or 'too young'.

I don't wish to spend £££ on a new pair, was thinking either a pair from m&s or even supermarket - asda, tesco, sainsburys or next - any experience with these brands?!!! I'd send her in black trainers if I could!

DD has startrite they are a bit more but I always get a full yr and she is very narrow.
DS in reception had a pair of M&S shoes that were very good. Not sure what the girls range in there is like.

I've ordered my dd some lace up Kickers. They look almost like black leather trainers. Think they're called 'threneakie'. Not cheap but they should wear well! (She's also tomboyish).
