A girl's winter shoe to go with all outfits?

Is there a style of girls' shoe that looks good with both dresses and trousers/leggings? As an adult, I'd have more than one pair of shoes, but my daughter (2yrs) grows out of her shoes so quickly, I'm wondering whether I can get just one pair for all outfits this autumn / winter. I was thinking maybe desert boots?? Does anyone know if they are any good? I want something that can withstand some mud in the park, look okay in playgroup and not too boyish / don't look like big bricks on the end of my DD's skinny legs! I feel clueless when it comes to fashion, but I want my daughter to be trendy and confident.

At this time of year I get my daughter who is now 9 so older than yours, soft cross bar shoes. Myself I wear ballet type flat shoes with leggings / skirt, so I feel like this is a more supporting alternative. As it gets wetter, I get boots from Clarke's or similar. I must say though, I've tried getting one shoe to suit everything and it doesn't always work. She either ends up with a few different shoes, which seems silly spending wise, or she has outfits that don't have matching shoes for a while!

Thanks, this is great. I've gone for boys desert boots from Boden in the end!
