What to wear under woollies

As much as I love cashmere and soft wools I don't want to wash them everytime I wear them so I'm wondering what you would wear underneath. Especially V-necks.

Thanks :)

I love how Hush style their knitwear. Lots of layered vests and scarves with v-necks. They have a "look book" too for more ideas www.hush-uk.com

Thanks for the link boho will check it out.

Vests are no good, I need underarm cover between me and the wooliies if that makes sense.

Is tshirts too simple an answer? Smile

Where do you buy your wollies OP? I could do with stocking up on a few nice bits.

dexter73 · 20/08/2014 10:38

I wear vests, t shirts, long sleeve tops and shirts under sweaters.

I use John Lewis mainly. Edinburgh Woollen Mill do great cashmere - - easy care (as long as you can get past the polyester jackets)

Teeshirts are the way to go but I can't find really fine ones. My regular tees add a lot of bulk.

Also, they always show under a V - maybe I should make that part of the look

Thanks, I'll have a look at the Mill.

On tshirts, I've had some reasonable tshirts from ASOS before - thin material and deep v necks. Also have a look in COS.

Boden do great lightweight long sleeved tops which are perfect for this. I prefer merino to cashmere as I just ruin cashmere but I find merino a bit itchy so these tops are great.

ElleDubloo · 20/08/2014 18:44

Thin long-sleeved tops from M&S. Not too exciting but does the job :)

cardigal · 21/08/2014 08:52

Thanks, I'm not missing out on some wonder-product am I? :) Will check out M&S.

They used to do a pima cotton tee which I loved and was thin enough.

Thin stretchy Ts. Short or long sleeve. Land's End are brilliant.

dexter73 · 21/08/2014 08:58

Heattech tops are great for wearing under clothes as they are very thin.

cardigal · 21/08/2014 10:47

Thank you!

Maybe a better antiperspirant too?

I'd never need to wash a jumper after 1 wear unless I was working in a very hot and steamy environment.

why would you need to wash it after 1 wearing?

KristinaM · 21/08/2014 11:05

I wear Uniqlo heat tech tops too . Sleeveless or 3/4 sleeves

They add little bulk as they are very thin and come in lots of colours .

I even wear them on so called " summer " days like today, under my loose s/s top , to keep my mum tum and norks warm Wink

LadyMud · 21/08/2014 11:07

I'd recommend a very thin silk top, with long sleeves. Lands End do a nice one in several colours, although you'll find cheaper elsewhere. Don't use bio detergent, though, as the enzymes damage the silk protein.

cardigal · 21/08/2014 11:15

My anti-perspirant is very effective thank you. Confused

Thanks for all the teeshirt recs, love the idea of the silk ones :)
