closed girl's school shoes

finding appropriate girl's shoes starts to become a headache.
I want my dd to have 'proper' shoes for school, not mary jane style when we have a mile to walk in wet english weather. walking in wellies is not an option.

so basically I want shoes like the boy's shoes, but maybe with a bit of girly detail.

school specifies black or navy, no trainer style.

Startrite have some closed shoes called Chloe, they are black, are they the sort of thing you are looking for?

Depends on size but we got DD1 lace up black school brogues this year - think they start at size 1 though, as DD2 had to get Mary Janes again.

Sorry, missed 'Startrite' from my post!

thanks
those chloe ones look the business.
will go to an independent store and hope they have them and they fit (dd has very wide feet which proves to be a headache)

Try Geox or M&S boys lace ups.

mausmaus · 17/08/2014 10:15

yes, boys shoes might be an option if I can convince her Hmm

but the best shoes are wasted money if the dc won't wear them.

DD1 told me she HAD to get brogues as they were really fashionable. She was lucky as a new style of brogues had just come out with little hearts engraved etc. She's really happy with them and they have a sturdy sole.

I don't mind girly styles.
but I do mind shoes that will mean cold, wet feet in winter.

I have looked at german websites, but they don't seem to have boring black or navy plain shoes at all.

Hush Puppies have a gorgeous brogue style with a nice, girly black ribbon instead of laces.
Really pretty

mausmaus · 17/08/2014 10:33

laces are difficult as dd is only 4 and can't do them up herself.
school says they should be able to do their shoes up on their own (fair enough).

thanks for all the suggestions, it seems 'proper' shoes for girl are out there :)

School boots might be stocked soon, they maybe an option if school allows boots.
