Leaving for Berlin tomorrow, still don't know what to take!

I'm flying to Berlin tomorrow for 5 days, taking only hand luggage and don't know what to take. I hate my entire wardrobe, have no money and have put on weight. Also have no decent summer jacket.

All I have ready to pack so far is 1 pair of jeans, t-shirts, one summer dress and a maxi skirt plus a long neutral cardi, my converse and a pair of trainers. Not sure whether to take sandals, a jacket, more means .. ?

I'll probably be walking lots, so if not too hot jeans and T would be preferable. With cardi if necessary.

Well I like layering and it might be cool at times so would definitely fit in a cardi. And maybe a brolly. I wouldn't take both converse and trainers though. More likely to take sandals that morph into something smarter for evening. Are you likely to have cash to buy stuff though? They have nice clothes but sometimes pricey in Germany.

I don't know what kind of summer Berlin is currently having, but I was there in August 2010 and it was stinking hot. I would definitely go for light layers - more dresses, skirts, cardies, sandals. I would have died walking around in jeans or any type of jacket.

Just looked at your list again - would definitely replace either converse/trainers with a pair of comfy sandals.

Get yourself to h&m while you're there if you fancy adding a few items.

I can report that Berlin has cooled down a fair bit over the last couple of days and there were some epic rainstorms yesterday. Daytime temperatures are currently in the high teens or low twenties. I would make sure you had a reasonably warm cardigan for the evening. Definitely a brolly!

One of the things I love about Berlin is that anything goes with regard to fashion. There's no one style and I never feel judged for what I'm wearing. Germans seem to value comfort very highly, and style second, which I think is A Very Good Thing.

Just relax and have a great time, it's a fantastic city Smile

Although have a browse for vintage stuff when you're there, it's a treasure trove Wink

thanks. So how does this sound? Travel in jeans, T-shirt and cardi and trainers with brolly to hand, pack Birkenstocks, t-shirts, a sundress, summer skirt.

Weather forecast is for around 17 to 20 degrees, cloudy with showers.

Well I took jeans, 4 t-shirts, a skirt, trainers and Birkenstocks, a long cardi and an umbrella. The weather was around 18 to 21 and dry and I had a lovely time Smile

Glad you had fun Smile what did you do?

It's my favourite city.

I got back from Berlin a week ago and it was in the 20's. I did have to wear a cardi all week.

Maxi dress and flip-flops were my staples.

We walked - lots! Wandered around shops in Kreuzberg, KaDeWe, Tiergarten, Brandenburg Gate, lots of coffees and ice cream, currywurst mit Pommes, cake! Walked down Unter den Linden and around that area.

I put on a cardigan every morning, but rarely needed to keep it on. Birkenstocks were fine all the time.

It's like the spiritual home of the Birkenstock Grin

I want to go now Envy

I didn't want to come home! Couldn't find any clothes I liked though - I had some birthday money to spend, bought myself some perfume at Douglas instead Smile
