Flats to go with this dress for a wedding?

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 11:23

This dress

I am planning to wear it with a tulle petticoat, 50s style, with this cardi.

I need to wear flats, because it's going to be a long day!

Also... any suggestions on hats etc?

Smile
Thanks!!

Very pretty dress! I saw lovely metallic pointy flats in Dune, called Amerie

Silver shoes would work
something like this?
or something with a pinky hue
like this/

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 12:14

I wondered about these?

or too boring?

I think any of those would do but I think it really sets an outfit off to have some lovely heels - it changes it from a 'day dress' to a 'dressed up dress' for me. Would you not be able to wear heels for the ceremony / photos, then change for the rest of the day ?

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 16/08/2014 12:30

I find my feet get more tired in ballet flats than in heels because of lack of arch support. Would you be ok in a low heel, maybe a blocked heel?

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 12:48

I'm chasing two flower girls around all day Grin. They are 3 and 5. It's my brother's wedding and I am doing a reading, too. I don't want to be worrying about my shoes/feet, I just want to wear them. They are only having informal photos.

I do agree though backforgood that it would be lovely to find the perfect shoe... a low heel would probably be ok, but I have been wearing trainers for 3 years as a SAHM so I would have to re-learn how to walk in heels!

Plus, my feet are really weird in that on my left foot, my middle toe is the same length as my big toe, and gets squashed in heels. I get a blister on my middle left toe every time. Sad I love pretty shoes!

Fair enough.

I meant to say - I love the outfit. Beautiful dress and cardi Smile

Thanks! Now I am just on the shoe hunt! Grin

How about comfy Clark's flats in lilac?

FamiliesShareGerms · 16/08/2014 13:29

Hat will depend on shoes to an extent, plus what you will feel comfortable in given the reading and flower girl shepherding duties Smile

Would you feel happier with a fascinator on a band for eg? Maybe flatter to your head?

Or a hairclip? Or were you thinking of a more traditional hat?

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 16/08/2014 14:55

What about a low wedge sandal?

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 14:59

hmm, not a big hat, I think I would go more for something a bit more retro, to go with the styling of the dress?

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 16/08/2014 15:10

Hat like this, perhaps?

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 15:37

wow! Except I don't think my SIL to be would be that keen on me wearing a white hat to her wedding! Wink

Why not get some nice purple flats and glue on some sparkles like this

TBH I would go 50´s with a kitten heel but then I live in heels. Love these btw but I don't know how well they would go with your dress (its a little difficult to tell on my phone)

Why not go a trio of flowers, purple, lilac and lavender pink to pick up the colours and dress, cardi and shoes in your hair and a purple clutch

Love the dress btw, just think it would be really nice to the pull the stronger purple out for shoes, and clutch.

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 15:41

Yep, stronger purple is good for me! Actually, it is the colour I had for my bridesmaids, whereas they are having more of a lavender/lilac colour.

A kitten heel could work...

Navy hat?

polyhymnia · 16/08/2014 15:53

Lots of lovely flats in Russell and Bromley and L K Bennett.

Primadonnagirl · 16/08/2014 15:58

I wouldn't do flats with a cardi tbh..too dressed drown given you have a major role in the wedding. I think you need kitten heels and a dramatic hat!

campocaro · 16/08/2014 16:11

something like these?

newnameforanewstart · 16/08/2014 16:24

What about something like these the are a normal dye able wedding shoe with a clip on the front

Simple pick your shoe and get it dyed

with a small heel
peep toe with a decorative pattern
Totally flat also fairly 50´s in style
kitten heel with a strap and low

Add a pair of shoe clips or make your own - clip on earrings can work but there are loads of places the do them ready made, result gorgeous vintage looking shoes in the right colour.

Also found these - because I love hair stuff nearly as much as shoes!!!

Purple and pink hair comb

purple and pink mesh hair comb

CeliaBowen · 16/08/2014 18:57

newname I love the second fascinator.

Not keen on pointy shoes for the weird toe reason given above Blush. A round toe would be better, and I am happy with kitten heels. There's no grass involved as it's a city wedding, so I won't sink!
