So I had a small spree on scent samples at Les Senteurs this week and came up trumps with some really gorgeous (IMO) ones.
I normally wear Miller Harris Pamplemousse so I tried a Citrus /Hesperide: Creed Virgin Island Water and a Hesperide/Woody one: 4160 Tuesday The Sexiest Scent in the World Ever!

The Creed one is glorious like a holiday in a bottle - warm and coco nutty whilst still fresh but The Tuesday scent is absolutely divine - soft and powdery with hints of cedar, patchouli and vanilla. It should be cloying and sickly but it's not at all - I'm in love and just can't stop sniffing my wrist! :)

My two recent discoveries are: Tom Ford Rose Oud and Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. Can't afford either at the moment though. Every time I go into town I test one or the other!

I wear Petitgrain by Miller Harris. It's a great summer/early autumn scent. A citrus with an earthy base note.

I recently came across L'Occitane Ambre & Santal which is heavenly for cooler weather. The sandalwood note is deliciously autumnal - think the aroma of woodsmoke on a misty October afternoon.

Le Labo Poivre, absolutely adore it. Also Le Labo Rose, very dry, peppery, hardly floral at all. Keep buying samples from luckyscent but went into the Le Labo store in Paris this week and tried a few more, absolutely love this brand.

Oooo some lovely ones here :) - can't wait to go to central
London for a proper sampling session. I've ordered some more 4160 Tuesday testers - eeeekk!

Bronze Goddess, it's just gorgeous. I do call it holiday in a bottle! Hint of coconut, it's divine.

BringMeTea · 16/08/2014 11:43

Oooo a timely thread for me. I really struggle to find perfumes i like and have made a couple of expensive mistakes. Over the years I have worn clarins eau dynamisante and Lancaster used to do a gorgeous one sadly discontinued long ago. Anyway, i was in duty free recently and randomly tried Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. Love it. But it is £xxx. If you can afford it try it. The scent was still on the cuff of my top 4 days later and it had even improved with age. Gorgeous unisex scent.

SofaCanary · 16/08/2014 14:51

Portofino is glorious, Jo Malone Orange Blossom is similar but slightly less spendy.

Cahu5 · 16/08/2014 20:15

I love Creed Love in White, does anyone know of a cheaper similar type of smell.... I love it so much.

fiorentina · 16/08/2014 20:17

Jo Malone Freesia and Pear. I love it!

MsVenus · 17/08/2014 04:30

Tom Ford Vettiver is gorgeous but very expensive so can only afford to get it from duty free.

Serge Lutens Serge Noir is again a pricey but gorgeous winter/night scent, very musky which I love.

Currently wearing M&S Isis by Autograph after recommendations from here about it being an Issey Miyake copy.

Eva by Benefit is a lovely everyday scent, fresh & oceanic.

LottaMarten · 17/08/2014 07:19

Tom Ford Plum Japonais... DP just bought me a 250ml bottle. Luckily I adore it!!

coffeeinbed · 17/08/2014 08:32

M&S have a lovely Rose Oud, someone up thread was looking for one?

meltedmonterayjack · 17/08/2014 09:44

coffee thanks for that. I Will definitely check M&S Rose Oud out. I wonder if you can get Bronze Goddess all through the year? My birthday is in November and my dd and my bro know I love perfume and usually club up and get me one. I remember reading something about once the BRonze GOddess has gone then it's gone for the year, but don't know if that's true.

Unlabelled · 17/08/2014 09:48

Bronze Goddess is a limited edition until Sept I believe, then EvilBay goes nuts selling the stuff at stupid prices. I love it still using last years bottle!

Apatite1 · 17/08/2014 12:02

I got chased down the corridor when wearing bronze goddess by a woman wanting to know what I was wearing. It's limited to summer only, I'd splurge on a bottle if you can stretch to it, it will be gone very soon.

WillowWoods · 17/08/2014 18:40

Dahlia Diva by Givenchy. Very St Tropez lovely.

meltedmonterayjack · 17/08/2014 21:43

Thanks for that re Bronze Goddess Unlabelled and Apatite. I shall have to ask for my birthday present early I reckon.
