What on earth do I wear to this concert?

DH is a massive Queen fan. For an insane amount of money he has managed to get ticket to see Queen + Adam Lambert. We are relatively close to the stage and there is some sort of reception thing beforehand. DH is beyond excited.

I'm at a complete loss as to what I should wear.

I'm mid-30s, size 16/18. My usual style alternates between a-line skirt, jumper, knee high boots or skinny jeans, tunic style top. So not exactly the height of fashion. I've got decent legs, DD boobs, nice arms and I carry most of my weight around my belly.

I have a bit of budget for new clothes but not a lot - partly because I'm losing weight and don't want to invest in clothes too much that I won't be able to wear (hopefully!).

I'm genuinely willing to try on anything even if it doesn't really go with my usual style I may be in a bit of a rut

It's winter here so can't be anything too light, but also I'm pretty sure it'll be warm in there.

(Long wavy black hair will also need dealing with)

Any suggestions or ideas would be great - I've got about 3 weeks to pull this together.

Why don't you try a jumper dress with your boots or a pencil skirt with a floaty blouse and boots x

Jumper dress might work if it isn't too heavy I suppose. Don't want to be roasting!

I suspect the pencil skirt & blouse combination might just make me look like I came straight from the office. There's something about me that makes clothes like that look quite formal and stuffy. Sad Someone told me my late teens, when knee high boots were still vaguely risqué, that it was the only person they knew who could make knee high boots look innocent

You've got the skinnies and knee high boots. How about adding a tunic length silk blouse and some striking silver jewelry. It will be warm in there, but a cami under the blouse could be removed if you start to 'glow'. Your hair sounds lovely - glossy with loose waves should work? Hope you have a ball!

Oh that sounds nice ohmymimi Grin

And added bonus of not too much extra to buy. That sounds like a real possibility!

Or your skinny jeans and one of the kimono style jackets that are everywhere at the moment, for a rock chick vibe: www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=Kimono%20skinny%20jeans.

Pink top, black miniskirt, moustache, Hoover?

vvviola · 16/08/2014 08:15

LOL notnowimreading - that would certainly be a memorable outfit, but not quite the sort of memorable I had in mind Grin

Brief shopping trip today:
Skinnies & boots look great. My own are a bit worn and tagged looking but may manage to pick up a new pair before the concert.

Kimono wasn't a huge success, but suspect that may be down to the shop I was at. Problem is, I need the top underneath to be long-ish and a bit floaty to cover my tummy. That's going to look really odd, isn't it?

Have also just realised that concert is on a work day, so plans of going to hairdresser to get them to help my hair behave won't work. Sad
