Can I wear these shoes with a black dress and black opaques?

Here

I'm panicking about my winter work wardrobe early this year. I wear a lot of black at work. Black dresses with black tights etc. Can I liven things up a bit with these shoes or are coloured / patterned shoes and black tights a fashion faux pas?

Sorry, I meant the "grey zebra" ones.

Yes, think they look great and you will get tons of wear. Nice with 3/4 length black trousers too. Im not a fashionista but would buy these.

Cucumberscarecrow · 14/08/2014 09:15

Ah, do you think that 3/4 would work in winter with popsocks (apologies for using the word "popsocks" on a S&B thread). I have nice 3/4 length trousers but thought I would have to retire them for winter.

Absolutely.

skylerwhite1 · 14/08/2014 09:21

Yes, I have tight 3/4 lengths and wear them throughout winter, maybe not on the really cold days.

AuntieStella · 14/08/2014 09:26

It depends on the normal standards of your workplace. They'd be utterly wrong where I worked.

Cucumberscarecrow · 14/08/2014 09:37

The shoes or the 3/4 length trousers, Stella?

My workplace is a fairly conservative office - lots of dark suits.

The shoes - any shoes other than black with black opaques.

(Though now you mention it, women in senior positions would wear ordinary length trousers, not 3/4).

CabbagePatchCheryl · 14/08/2014 10:12

God, yes - they're super cute and would look great with tights.

Not sure about 3/4 length trousers and pop socks although that might be because I avoid 3/4 length in general due to being about the height of an average 11 yo Wink

Stella, my problem with black shoes, black dress and black opaques is that it all seems very black! I don't really do accessories so I was hoping to rely on my shoes for a bit of colour.

Could you change the colour of the tights? Grey and not opaque perhaps, with those shoes?

Cucumberscarecrow · 14/08/2014 12:31

Hmm, not sure. I think I would feel a bit busy with grey tights, black dress and animal print shoes. I know it works in real life but think it wouldn't work in my office.

I really like the shoes and think they would look best with black tights - it will be impossible to match the grey/taupe in the shoes and look a bit odd with two different greys, I think.

I would go for 7/8 but not 3/4 trousers in a workplace setting myself but, as said, depends where you work.

polyhymnia · 14/08/2014 14:14

I think animal print shoes would be OK in most workplaces. They are a kind of classic now, I think. Teresa May certainly gets away with them. But then she is the boss at the Home Office, I guess!

I think that you can wear animal print shoes at the workplace they complement the black tights and black dress very well.
