Hello, I'm going to the races in a month and I've ordered the dress that I've put a link for. My problem is finding bags and shoes!

What do you think to these shoes? Either in the red or the nude I was thinking. I'm not sure if the red will be too much so I'm leaning towards the nude.
I need a block heel or a wedge for walking on grass

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

If you happen to take a 7 these would be a delight with that dress.

MrsLettuce · 12/08/2014 00:08

These exist in the full range of sizes.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/08/2014 00:13

Whatever you wear on your feet make sure you can stand in them all afternoon, we went in a group recently and most of us wore flats but two wore sky high heels and had to keep disappearing inside to find somewhere to sit down, so missed a lot of the fun.

MrsLettuce · 12/08/2014 00:20

Yeah, it's clearly vital to be able to walk or stand comfortably. I forget that people forget such a thing!

PicnicGatecrasher · 12/08/2014 08:23

The dress is great, and I would lean toward the red in your choice Mary Janes, but you'll prob need a navy bag if you go down that road.
I don't think you need to be prepared for walking on grass, most of the ground will be prepared for crowds. More important you can stand/walk/jump when you're winners come in!! Have fun!

shadesofwinter · 12/08/2014 17:08

I think the red shoes you've linked to will look gorgeous with that dress

WowserBowser · 12/08/2014 17:12

I agree, the red shoes would look the best.

Luverly dress. Really nice.

OffToTheRacesss · 12/08/2014 18:02

I think the red it is then!
I don't think they'll be too uncomfortable as they're not too high but I am going to take a (squished) pair of flats in my bag for walking to and from the train station so if I'm struggling I can always bob those back on!

The dress should be arriving tomorrow and I'm praying it will fit!!
I've ordered 2 sizes so fingers crossed

Dress us gorgeous

Agree the red ones are nice . If not, something similar but avoid suede if you want them to be wearable after the day !

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/08/2014 20:44

The red ones are lovely, I wouldn't be able to wear them but am very envious of those who can wear heels all day long.

Good news and bad news!

The dress fits like a dream but the design doesn't look quite the same Confused

It's navy with white flowers with a bit of green on the flowers so now the red shoes will not go.
I'm not pleased because it isn't half as nice as it looks in the picture even though it's still nice!

OP posts:
WowserBowser · 13/08/2014 15:47

Oh that's a bugger. I think red goes with green though, despite the rhyme.

MrsLettuce · 13/08/2014 15:54

There's a sort of minty green highlighting inside the flowers in the photos but it's not that obvious. Is it more 'present' IRL? Bugger that you missed it in any case, is horrid to be disappointed.

OffToTheRacesss · 13/08/2014 16:04

Yeah I noticed the green tint on the images but it looks far more present as you say lettuce.
It really does stand out!
It still looks nice and makes me look slimmer but it just isn't as striking as I imagined it would be!

Think I'll have to go shopping with the dress to try find shoes that match, I have no idea what will go anymore!

OP posts:
WowserBowser · 13/08/2014 16:04

Oh yes, see what you mean about the mint colouring.

OffToTheRacesss · 13/08/2014 16:06

I'll post a picture in a minute to show you the difference!

OP posts:
OffToTheRacesss · 13/08/2014 16:12

Ok no I'm not posting a picture now my laptop won't work Grin
Imagine the mint colouring was enhanced slightly, any ideas for shoes? I'm thinking nude or white?

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 13/08/2014 16:43

Mint shoes? You should be able to find at least a tonal match and it'd let you keep the pop you were after with the red.

MrsLettuce · 13/08/2014 16:44

(mint = the greeny colour in the print that looks like mint on my screen) There's a grey in the flower highlighting too isn't there?

OffToTheRacesss · 13/08/2014 17:11

The minty colour would look really good if I can find it! Smile
There's no grey when you see it up close, just navy white and minty green

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 13/08/2014 17:50

these minty ones might well work and have a nice retro feel. Also in white.

There's always yellow, of course. It really does go with everything!

OffToTheRacesss · 13/08/2014 17:52

That mint colour is almost spot on, that's brill! Thank you lettuce I might order those Smile
