Stylish & flattering dress for a wedding?

I'm looking for a dress for a family wedding next weekend (left it a bit late I know!)

It needs to be flattering for my hourglass figure, I'm a curvy size 12/14. Preferably knee length with short sleeves. Not black!

I don't really know where to look... any suggestions?!

I wore this to a wedding at the weekend.
Any good?

Thanks both :)

ThursdayLast, that's a lovely dress but too short for me unfortunately! I want something knee length to cover my thighs ;)

minibmw, that dress is really pretty, thanks! The neckline might be a bit high for me (I usually find that scoop or v-neck is more flattering) but it would probably work with a necklace like the one in the picture. Definitely an option!

HorraceTheOtter, thank you!

Love the third option you shared ("Only a tiny bit black") and the fourth one is cool (Uttam Boutique Mexicana), I prefer the pink version to the green one.

The other options are not so much my style... the body con shape doesn't really work on me, it makes my bum look huge (!) so I usually go for A-line or flared skirts.

I like bold colours like turquoise, red, purple, and strong pinks. Also like soft grey but not really pastels (they don't suit me). And I prefer patterned to plain, unless it's a great colour and style.

And it has to be proper sleeves because I want to cover my shoulders, annoyingly they get spotty over the summer and they're particularly bad at the moment! :(

I too have a wedding outfit dilemma and my dress size is the same as yours. I tried this on at the weekend. It's much nicer IRL than in the pic www.frenchconnection.com/product/woman+Collections+dresses/71CCI/Wilderness+Bloom+V-Neck+Dress.htm

FoxyHarlow123 · 11/08/2014 17:53

Link doesn't seem to be working. Try this instead - it's the first dress www.frenchconnection.com/category/woman+Collections+dresses/Dresses.htm?pgsz=10000

The pink dress you've linked to is lovely - and in the pics it looks so much more expensive than £35. Wear that!

Blueuggboots · 11/08/2014 17:57

I've got this one for a wedding next weekend!

Blueuggboots · 11/08/2014 17:58

Thanks everyone, you're awesome! Loads of great options. I've ordered a few (including the pink one I found and a couple people suggested) so I can try them on... I'll let you know which is the best in real life!

This is the dress I wore in the end:
m-uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_27,mon_27.1/5530540912
(Monsoon Penny Pleat Front Dress)

It's available in green or black but I liked the red one best, it's my favourite colour. And such a flattering style on me, little sleeves and the length is perfect too, just below the knee. And the best thing is, it was only £17.70 in the sale! Such a bargain! Smile

I am a generous 14 (on the bottom) and I have this

It looks great - someone asked if it was a Vivian Westwood

HermioneWeasley · 17/08/2014 08:22

Ah, I see I am waaaay too late (RTFT dear!)
