What Is Your Dream Hair/Who Is Your Hair Icon? I need a restyle

I have long hair at the moment and due to my own laziness not much going on in the way of layers or anything. It's very bland but I've been busy and on holiday so what with the weather it's been up in a pineapple for the past month or two. Hairdresser has told me the way it is now he can really go with any style I want.

I need a change, but first of all I need some inspiration. I can't think of what I want at all. I know I couldn't cope with a pixie crop but apart from that I'll consider anything.

I've dark hair, not yet greying, it isn't curly but isn't perfectly straight, has a slight wave, its fine hair, but there is a lot of it.

My hair dream is Debra Messing. I have always wanted long, curly, red hair. I have straight light brown hair

I'm loving the orange/ginger look at the moment. Would love to back to Rihanna red -currently baby blonde but I'm getting married next year and red is so hard to go back to blonde so thinking ginger is half way there?!

I like Alexa Chung's hair. It is actually very cleverly cut yet looks effortless and modern.

Penelope Cruz is my hair crush. Her hair always looks so lush, thick and beautifully healthy. She doesn't need fancy styles or layers to make it look stunning.

I really like Emma Willis' hair if you fancy going shorter. She seems to be able to do quite a lot with it - see here for a few pics. Danni Minogue always looks amazing too, she was my definite hair crush when she did x factor.

I'm pretty sure that she is wearing a wig in Watchman TheAwfulDaughter.

To be honest, I think it's a little pointless to look at celebs for hair inspiration. Either they have extensions, or are wearing hair pieces, or at the very least, have had a fuck ton of styling. I bet their hair looks just as boring as anyone else's when they are slobbing about at home!

I've always thought that Christina Hendricks always has really well styled hair that looks great, but I've recently seen pictures of her without any styling and her hair looked pretty bad!

Never underestimate a good stylist!

With all that said and done, I am absolutely in love with anyone with long, thick hair, done in Veronica Lake style pin curls. It's my dream hair.

Then again, my hair is pretty fine (although there is an okay amount of it) and I recently cut it all off to get rid of old colour. So I am desperately trying to grow it back again!

Sad thing is, my hair is NEVER going to look like this. I get bored if I spend more than three minutes blow drying it, let alone spending a good 90 minutes curling it.

Not so taken by long hair in general - though agree Penelope Cruz's looks fantastic.

Just watching House of Cards so my current hair icon is Robin Wright in that. But she is blonde, not dark.
