Tom Ford lipsticks - worth the (vaguely obscene) price tag?

I'm usually a Rimmel girl and would think hard before spending even a tenner on a lipstick. However I find myself drawn towards Tom Ford's Cherry Lush lipstick - its an absolutely stunning colour, I'm not sure I've seen a red lippie quite like it. Is it worth 37 quid though? Is Tom Ford make-up really in a league of its own?

Would also be intrigued to hear the verdict on this. They look incredible and whilst I've pretty much been suckered in by the generally gushing views of beauty bloggers etc, I would love to know what MNers think.

I love them. I wear casablanca a lot and it lasts well, is moisturising and the packaging is fab.

I have Black Orchid and Violet Fatale.
They are lovely colours and feel good on the lips (although I don't find them moisturising at all), but you can get just as good ones from other brands.
Black Orchid doesn't last very well on the lips and goes on slightly patchy.
They taste of vanilla, just like Mac.
I don't really feel like they are so amazing in quality that I would consider them in a league of their own. The packaging is nice though but Guerlain Rouge G is much cooler with inbuilt mirror.

I bought the ones I have because I couldn't find the same colours anywhere else. And I have used them quite a bit. But I wouldn't really bother buying more of the Tom Ford ones unless the colour was unique - there are better lipsticks on the market at a lower price.

I prefer Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks - they just perform better and taste nicer IMO. And they feel moisturising on the lips. They are still expensive - I think they are around £31.
The cheaper Rouge Automatique lipsticks (£25 or so) are also very good.

Brands like Mac, Chanel, Laura Mercier, Dior, YSL, Clinique, Givenchy and so on also make really good lipsticks - most of them are more reasonably priced.

I have a limited ed from last year the colour is amazing and it stays, really gets complimented and I love it. So yes for me because I couldn't find that colour and finish elsewhere (had tried the other usual suspects )

I have tried the Guerlain G lipstick and have found it disappointing in that it bleeds and doesn't last long. It is too greasy a formulation for my liking.

Try Revlon Cherry Blossom as a dupe for the Tom Ford one.

Bourjois has one in a velevt matte formulation that is a similar pink toned red. These last well and don't feel heavy on the lips but they are trickier to put on because they have a lipgloss type applicator.

I love them too, the nudes are very good. I also like the Dolce & Gabbana lipsticks and wear Nude 50 and Devil 220 on rotation.

37 quid! Shock

No wonder these 'designers' are larfing all the way to the bank. Loved 'A Single Man', though
