It looks much nicer in real life (I actually think the model in the picture appears to be wearing a size too large for her)

I am in my 30s, size 8, tall, dark hair.

My only concerns are:

Is it too old for someone in their 30s?
Would the colour look odd on someone with pale skin?

Thanks Thanks

If it makes you feel great, then it is the right dress. :)

Greengardenpixie · 06/08/2014 21:23

Could you post a picture of you wearing it? You dont need to show your face if you dont want to?

LuluJakey1 · 06/08/2014 21:28

It is beautiful- very Downton and sophisticated. It does look like the bodice is baggy but if you have tried a size on that doesn't do that then I would buy it. I love the sleeves and the colour.

Can't do a selfie now but will try one tomorrow

I love it. Agree it doesn't fit the model in the picture - especially round the arms. When are you getting married? Think this would be perfect for an autumn or winter wedding. Almost makes me want to get married all over again! Wish they'd had this Jenny packham collection a few years ago when I got hitched!

Yes the arms are tight on me (and I have pretty slim arms)

Love the ''real' Jenny Packham dresses but sadly way out of my budget!

Game not fame. Doh

DiscoDancer · 06/08/2014 22:09

Dress is beautiful and from your description of yourself sounds like it will look amazing!

CockBollocks · 06/08/2014 22:09

Ooh yes picture - I would do hair pulled round to the front over one shoulder, curly.

Or a fancy plait.

EmyK35 · 06/08/2014 22:30

Yes there are some nice ones in Phase Eight although more expensive but still within my budget
Just been looking at the actual Jenny Packham bridal collection, just beautiful

I suspect the dress you have is perfect for you, it sounds great!

Ghost have a couple at a similar price to yours with sleeves, if your Doubts are strong.

What kind of wedding are you having? I like the dress, but I think only you will know if the colour suits you though.

Thing is, will it fit in with the tone of the overall wedding? The dress seems pretty 1920's - glam, but in a simple sort of way.

I think you would need to add a hair comb or something to "bride" it up a little.

Something like this or this or this or even this.

Because the dress itself is very floaty, I'd also avoid wearing your hair down, otherwise it ends up looking sort of baggy and "too much". You'd need to match your hair to the dress, so something like this style or this one would work very well.

MrsLettuce · 07/08/2014 10:42

Can't wait to see your photo Emy!

kaykayblue · 07/08/2014 10:43

Oh an by the way, apparently the retro look is very "in" at the moment!

MrsLettuce · 07/08/2014 10:47

(one more dress)

Softlysoftlycatchymonkey · 07/08/2014 10:50

It doesn't look great on that picture but I can see what your going for.

I would go for a 1920 up do for your hair and the same with make up.

If you feel like a queen in this, go fir it xxx

Softlysoftlycatchymonkey · 07/08/2014 10:50

Oh I'm not keen on that last one mrs

Softlysoftlycatchymonkey · 07/08/2014 10:52

That first ghost one is larvly!

MrsLettuce · 07/08/2014 11:15

There is a palest pink lace gown with sleeves in Mango that I think is lovely. It's not 20s looking but so, so, pretty I think. It'd need a belt or sash mind. It's probably not pricey enough for you though.

I was wondering, if the No1JP dress was priced at your maximum budget, would you still have Doubts?

EmyK35 · 07/08/2014 15:08

Anyone else?

Greengardenpixie · 07/08/2014 15:37

would love to see you wearing it. It would give a a true representation of the dress. I have to say i like yours the best, if it fits neater at the top. I dont think any of the others have that vintage feel.

MrsLettuce · 07/08/2014 15:46

Yes, I quite agree the OP's dress is the nicest and most 20s feeling on the thread. The phase8 with the pewter beading comes close but has no sleeves.
