What to use to clean my face in the morning?

I was quite happily using Elemis Tri-Enzyme wash in the shower in the morning, have done for well over a year, but recently my skin has looked really dried out and grey after using it.

My skin is oily/combination, so it needs something, I can't just splash with water, as I am always shiny/oily (attractive Blush) in the morning.

I've swapped to a little sample tube of Clarins face wash for dry skin, and still get the same result.

Any recommendations?

Green tea wash may be worth a go, just make a non milky green tea add a couple if drops of tea tree or lavender oil, pop into a bottle and use as you would a 'normal' face wash/toner.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. It feels and smells luxurious and my face is lovely and clear when I use it regularly.

Oooh, I like making my own stuff Theoldhag I will try that, thanks.

peacoat I used to use that, but it started irritating my skin so I had to stop. I use Superdrug's Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser in the evening, which is fine, lovely, in fact. Maybe I should use that in the morning as well.

Oh what a pity! However if the Superdrug is working then why not.

I use a hot cloth cleanser at night - usually Clinique take the day off balm. In the morning I just use a light cream cleanser on cotton wool and then toner. Using one from TK Maxx at the minute but they haven't got it any more Sad so I'm going back to Lush 9-5 cleanser

I'm just working my way through a generous sample of Lush Angels On Bare Skin and really like it. In the morning my skin feels all shiny/greasy and after using this it feels clean and fresh but not dried out. It's very gentle too and has a lovely lavendery smell. Def recommend getting a sample to see what you think. I use it in the morning and in the evening Lush Ultrabland (which I'm not totally sure I like.)

I use Dermalogica special cleansing gel, my skin is normal/ oily in the t zone. I find this controls that part without drying out the rest of my face.

Bought African Black Soap after seeing it recommended here, very happy. Skin is clear and feels clean, but not dried out.

Lush Angels on Bare Skin is lovely.

Origins checks and balance face wash. I've used it for years and haven't found anything that comes close to it. Great on combination skin.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/08/2014 11:32

I'm taking notes, thanks everyone. Do Lush give out samples (I don't go in the shop because it makes me sneeze!)?

I also have oily skin and recently started doing oil cleansing (look up the MN thread for the low down). Apparently it's good for oily skin though I haven't been on it long enough to tell. Have been using a face cloth and v hot water in the mornings. Before that I used to use either Simple or Nivea face wash (the clear ones in the transparent tubes).

Body Shop Vit E gentle facial wash works well on my combination skin in the morning.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2014 16:36

I use Avene's Really Gentle wipe off cleanser (except I usually rinse it off instead), and a spray of their water stuff. Lovely.
