Those of you in the know - equipment silk shirts

Notcontent · 03/08/2014 22:52

I really want a nice silk shirt. I love the equipment ones - there is a lovely grey, star print one on net a porter - but I don't think I can justify the price. (Have they gone up in price??? I didn't they were this expensive in the past.. )

Uniqlo has some good ones - I like the striped ones in particular.

Do you think the equipment ones are heaps nicer?

I have four equipment shirts, and would never hesitate buying another, they are very addictive , the cut and fabric of the shirts are very flattering, and you can wear them with anything,
, I have the black and white star one, similar to the one you like, and I absolutely love it,
I bought all my shirts from shopbop and revolve clothing, much cheaper than uk,

Any good? I bought a navy with pale yellow dots silk shirt in the spring, it's a great fit and washes well.

Notcontent · 04/08/2014 14:07

Thanks ladies. I think I will save up for an equipment one, as that's what I really want... Do they come up big? I am very petite - size 6 on top.

I love Equipment shirts, have two and wouldn't say no to another. I also got mine from Shopbop. They do come up very big. I wear a small in the slim signature shirts and am a 10/12.

summerberries · 04/08/2014 19:46

I don't have an equipment shirt myself but they do look lovely quality, although I personally don't like the breast pockets that most of them have.

I haven't the Uniqlo collection so no idea of the difference in quality.
Pure Collection usually have v good quality silk shirts too. I also picked up a lovely Reiss one on ebay.

I guess it depends on your budget and the style you like.

santa has said it all!

I have three and I love mine. I am counting the days years until my DC no longer surprise me with dirty, sticky and snotty fingers so I can wear them mkre often. I bought all of mine at a discount, one of them in the Selfridges sale, the rest online.

And yes they do come up big, especially the signature ones.

LinusDKD · 04/08/2014 20:09

more often.

santamarianovella · 04/08/2014 20:59

notcontent and anyone else interested in buying an equipment shirt, shopbop do good codes every now and then, I got all my shirts for less than £100 each, you will pay duties and tax, but they still cost way less than the uk,

They do come big,I'm a 6 , with small breasts Sad but I like the drapey shape of the blouse, and it makes me look skinnier than I am Wink

coffeeinbed · 04/08/2014 21:03

I have an Uniqlo one, but haven't worn or washed it yet.
So don't know.
But will.

santa/ linus/ cranagh- have you had silk shirts from other brands? Do you think the quality of the Equipment shirts is significantly better than the others?

santamarianovella · 04/08/2014 21:32

I have one from joie, and a by malene Birger one, and both are terrible, I have another one from Chloe, which is stunning , but the fabric is very delicate so you cant wear it near kids or very often, I'm too scared it might get caught on something and tear,

So yes, they are probably the best quality shirts i have,
And would buy another one in a heart beat.

summerberries · 04/08/2014 22:18

Many thanks Santa, although I was trying to compare Equipment to more high street brands rather than other high end ones.

PittTheYounger · 04/08/2014 22:32

I would prefer the Uniqlo oens to be amazing but am interested in the EQT ones

what size is a busty 12?

I love mine (and have quite a habit...) shopbop and revolve are great online stores but also try Saks 5th avenue and Bloomingdales. Both are stockists and I sometimes find that because they are such huge 'brands' in their own right often have pretty fabulous sales, both will ship to the UK. Saying that it's always good to keep an eye out on Matches/ASOS/net a porter around sale time.
P.s their cashmere sweaters are gorgeous too!

singaporeswing · 05/08/2014 09:41

Mango have got a gorgeous silk shirt at the moment. Just seen it on ASOS.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/08/2014 09:44

I have severL too. The slim signature or brett good for more petite ladies.

They often go on sale in selfridges and harvey nichols.

Tulip gets 10% off at revolve

AndiPandi · 05/08/2014 10:08

these look lovely but I'm not sure I could keep up with the dry cleaning! Has anybody tried putting them in the washing machine, maybe on a silk wash?

Cranagh · 05/08/2014 10:15

Yes, I have had Pure Collection silk shirts, I like them and the cut is good but they have not lasted as well as the Equipment shirts. I machine wash them cold. Also have an Equipment cashmere sweater (lucky sales find), agree they are gorgeous.

AmberNectarine · 05/08/2014 10:52

Yep I have had a couple over the years. I prefer the heavier silk to the chiffon kind. I have to wear an XS as a size 8.

summerberries · 05/08/2014 22:13

Many thanks carnagh. That was more the sort of comparison I was after!

MrsCampbellBlack · 07/08/2014 09:48
