Ok, it's for next weekend. I'm wearing a navy blue silk dress, with quite a low cut v-neck. Pairing it with heels of some sort; probably salmon pink strappy sandals.

Normally I'd wear literally just that, but I really want to look 'done' for this do, so I'm thinking necklace, bracelets, earrings (though, my bloody ears have healed up after 20 years of non-use, so would have to be clip-ons - may do another thread to see if there are any experts in that region...)

Thinking probably colourful costume jewelry, rather than gold/ silver. I'm quite dark featured, HoC winter if that helps...

TIA gurus!!!

There's no need for earrings, they aren't obligatory Wink Dress sounds good, could you maybe link? The sandals too (for the shade)?

MrsLettuce · 02/08/2014 23:34

this is lovely
Oh, silver or gold coloued metal, BTW. This would go with anything

Mummyteachmummy · 02/08/2014 23:42

Agh, they're both old, so no links I'm afraid (god, I'm the worst wedding guest ever - promised myself I'd buy something new and fabulous for this one, but hate shopping/ toddler in tow etc etc)

Anyway, the dress is Whistles, something like A/W 2010. Is quite beautiful actually. All silk, cross over v neck top part, nice thick cinchy band around the waste. Just above the knee.

Sandals are Reiss, about 2007 (seriously I need to start shopping again don't I?!), thin strappy leather affair, salmon pink is I'm afraid as close as I can think...

Thanks MrsLettuce, they're both lovely.

One idea I'm toying with is a long necklace with something on it, so that it falls into a V shape like the dress iyswim. I love the v line of the dress, and don't want to undermine that but, on the other hand, it probably does look a bit 'empty' with nothing.

Quite right. I hardly ever buy anything.

Great descriptions, thanks, that's really helpful. Is the dress a very dark navy?

Maybe more this necklace?

MrsLettuce · 03/08/2014 00:42

this is very pretty, if you can wear 'gold'
this is lovely, maybe knotted. is this the same or paler? pearly pearl. one last one

SnayPah · 03/08/2014 08:35

A rosary shape perhaps?

Dontgotosleep · 03/08/2014 11:50

Match navy blue with silver. You don't need a necklace with it being low cut. However you could have silver bracelet/ring and hair accseories if you'reinto them and silver nails

Mummyteachmummy · 03/08/2014 21:20

Ahh, Mrs, you're a star - totally spoilt for choice! Yet still I'm not happy. Went into East today to try some of them on, and they're somehow just not as nice in the flesh. :(

Don'tgo I think you're right about silver. I bought a lovely chunky silver ring today (one of those ones with lots of thin rings ravelled around one another to make one big chunky one), so thinking of trying to make that the starting point for a theme...

Chunky silver stuff? Bracelet and long necklace? Will keep looking... Grrr.

Something like this?

SnayPah · 03/08/2014 21:41

Or something like this?

SnayPah · 03/08/2014 21:49

Or more of a statement?
