Buying perfume online - yes or no?

I need to buy more perfume and can see there are good deals to be had online - but can I be confident I'm getting the genuine article? Have heard stories of people being ripped off and receiving diluted/fake products.... Can anyone recommend a reputable tried and tested site please?

I have used The Fragrance Shop and they have been good - quick delivery and genuine perfumes.

Allbeauty.com

All Beauty has a really good reputation and is often the most inexpensive.Qvc is also good for certain brands.I've bought several l'artisan Parfumeur perfumes recently at a very good price ( they also do a few sample sets)plus stock some Philosophy and Penhaligons. The advantage of Qvc is that you can return them if you don't like them.

Have just found what I'm looking for at a great price on Allbeauty.com and without your help probably wouldn't have risked it. So thanks everyone Smile

I've just recently started a perfume / aftershave price comparison website. It's still in a slightly unfinished state at the moment but hoping to have it up and running properly within the next few weeks. It's mainly aimed at the UK but quite a few of the retailers also ship outside aswell.
If there's something your looking for and you can't find it, you can request if from the front page and we'll try and get it added as soon as possible. Or if you follow us on Facebook you can stay updated through that.

I bought a bottle of Endless Euphoria off eBay recently - half the price of the High Street and it was sealed, completely fine. If buying on eBay, if you buy from a seller who has lots of good ratings then I'd be surprised if there would be a problem... and if there is and you pay by Paypal you should get your money back.

I would be wary of buying certain perfumes off eBay.There are a lot of fakes around, especially Chanels ( even from sellers with high ratings)and others. Also never buy bottles that are suspiciously cheap.Saying that,I have Bought a Guerlain Aqua Allegoria from an online seller and its perfect.Plus some slightly used Penhaligons and Hermes eau des merveilles from individuals.

Be very careful.

I buy a certain products for my son (Redken) which he loves and has used for a while. Seeing on Feelunique that a saving was to be had, I always shopped there and from time to time, bought perfume for me and DH too. Recently, I noticed something on my bank statement which I didn't recognise. It was for around £20 per month. I dragged out previous statements and saw that for nearly 3 years, I'd made this payment. I went to the bank. They had no idea what it was. I make many direct debit payments and thought it was something else entirely. IT WAS MY MISTAKE BUT..... Turns out, that it had come to me via the card I'd used for FeelUnique. I called them. They said that it was a link used by this company at the end of placing an order with them and nothing to do with them, though they were aware of it.

I then cancelled my Feelunique account and card. I told them to remove it and me and all of my details from their database. That was nearly 3 weeks ago and I STILL get emails from them and adverts and yesterday a snail mail "£5 off when you spend whatever" with them. I wish they'd just sod off!

Personally, I'll be buying from the high street, in future.

Just be careful using these sites, is my advice.

I use All Beauty a lot and they have been fine.

Greengardenpixie · 05/08/2014 11:43

Eliza, i have had that done to me using my mobile!!! It was just a random pop up seemingly that was clicked on by accident. Thankfully, i caught it in time before it had got bad. It was the same with vodafone. The same thing happened and found i had been paying an amount monthly and i didnt know about it. The thing is, it was for absolutely nothing!!!

PinkSparklyElephant · 05/08/2014 12:10

You've got me worried about Felunique now - I'll be checking my card statements very carefully!

JuicyJ · 05/08/2014 12:25

Hi - please don't buy from any company overseas - I once bought Gucci Rush 2 from a company called 'Trade Services' and received a fake bottle of this perfume which had leaked, I also found out afterwards that many more people had been duped by this company from online blogs. I persisted with my claim to get my money back and after 2-3 months of pressing them I finally did, I learnt from this to either buy from a Dept store or a very reputable online UK company.

Take care there are some bad people out there ;)

popularperfumeuk · 05/08/2014 14:24

It's the same as buying anything online really though. As long as your careful and do your research on the company first then you should be fine. I'd always be weary of buying anything from China though.

bonhomme · 05/08/2014 19:20

I've used them several times and had no issues at all. Much cheaper than in the shops and very quick delivery.
