Right. Am about to try my first ever St Tropez bronzing mousse. How badly is this going to go?

I know I need to exfoliate and moisturiser first, then rub it in all over with a glove on.

What else do I need to know?

Do not want to look like an Oompa Loompa. Have got to take the kids swimming on Monday.

Moisturise a lot on dry areas and buff well with the glove. Start from the bottom- sounds obvious but it wasn't to me when I first did it....

Needtoemigrate · 02/08/2014 15:22

Sorry to let you know but the pool will strip it mostly off- rubbish I know but it does and all patchy.

I wouldn't apply with gloves. You are more likely to get patches & streaks.

Try & get your hands on a tanning mitt applicator they are amazing.

You can pick them up from most supermarkets, Primark, superdrug, boots etc for a couple of pounds.

You slide your whole hand inside its like a sponge/fabric material.

Apply a couple of pumps to the mitt & work it into the skin in a circular buffing motion.

PinkSquash · 02/08/2014 15:27

I'd wear a glove inside the applicator mitt too tbh, you don't want to risk tango hands.

Right ok, thanks. Will give it a try. Wish me luck.

I may be back. Either sobbing or punching the air.

I love love love mine and I look like a suntanned goddess instead of an anaemic old crab. I've turned selfie crazy! Smile

Thanks Batman. Grin

Well there's definitely a bit of a golden shimmer to my legs that wasn't there before.

Does it get any darker as it dries?

The mitt's pretty brown. There's probably more on there than there is on me.

Good tip about wearing a glove inside the mitt, thanks PinkSquash, I won't have a brown hand too.

It gets progressively darker ovr the next few hours. I love that stuff although I can't find it where I currently live.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 02/08/2014 16:05

I hope I didn't put too much on.

I bought it Boots. Have you tried ordering it online?

I'm pretty pale so I tend to moisturise then mix the tanner 50/50 with moisturiser before applying too.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 02/08/2014 16:29

Well they certainly don't look very dark. There's a slight shimmer to them but that's it.

Will see how they look tonight. Might put a bit more on.

No! Grin Not until you're sure it's finished!

MrsDavidBowie · 02/08/2014 16:37

Keep us posted.
I am despairing with fake tan on legs.
Very pale and everything looks orange or matte.
I want just sunkissed

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 02/08/2014 17:09

Ha ha waffly alright then, I'll review the situation tomorrow.

I'd say they're sort of sunkissed MrsDavidBowie and I'm as pale as paper usually.

...bollocks.

Was going to say well this is in the bright sunlight coming through the bedroom window and they don't look sparkling white, nor do they look Oompa Loompa-ish so on the whole I'm quite pleased. Grin

Well? Is it sun kissed goddess or tango queen?

Elysianfields · 03/08/2014 10:56

Hard to tell from the pic but if you are pleased..[eyes up the st tropez bottle in the bathroom that I have been too wimpy to try]

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 03/08/2014 16:57

It's not a brilliant picture but yes I'm quite pleased. It went on easily, there's definitely no streaks or lines and it's a nice even colour. Dare I say it, it's worked quite well. Grin

One leg looks darker in the picture for some reason but it's not. Confused
