Please accessorise this outfit for a wedding

I have bought this dress for a family wedding in about 6 weeks.

I have bought it in Navy, rather than purple. I am a size 16 with size 8 feet.

I am clueless about accessorising so please help with something to put on my head, feet, something to hold and something to keep me warm!

The bridesmaids are in various shades of pink and purple so would like to complement them - although don't need to be too matchy.

Sorry, can't see a dress in the link

newrecruit · 02/08/2014 16:06

Oh it works on mine Smile

It's the Cara Lace Pencil Dress

Well, the model is wearing nude tights and shoes, so they would work.

A pink shrug would work - précis petite have a lovely pleated berry shrug at £50

And maybe a pink fascinator? Debenhams debut pink loop feather fascinator? Sorry - can't work out links on iPad!

Do you think I could get away with a coat?

m.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE449/Womens-Eliza-Coat.html

The reception is in a hotel and I don't feel the cold so it would just be for going in and out of church.

I like shrugs and cardies but they always seem to look scruffy on me.

It looks like quite aheavy coat... In pink or blue?

MrsLettuce · 02/08/2014 17:13

hat? (am always linking to this but it's fab)
short, fitted navy jacket of some sort
pink bag, another, one more
navy shoes

newrecruit · 02/08/2014 17:18

I love that hat! Really different. I like hats but they all look quite samey. That one looks lovely.

I agree the coat looks heavy - just thinking of something I can use again.

Although SO tempted to go in the ice cream hat Grin

Oh the ice cream hat is a thing of wonder Grin Rather like the tea cups too. This is more wearable though and would be at least as nice with navy as pink.

newrecruit · 02/08/2014 18:05

That is actually beautiful. Would work well as wouldn't make me look like a wannabe bridesmaid and would still go with all the pinky purple.

Yeah, steering away from using the pink might be a very good idea.

these in the green might be lower than you'd like (or too unusual) but they'd work great with that hat

newrecruit · 03/08/2014 09:33

Oh this has all gone very well.

Saw sister last night (mother of the bride). She is wearing bright blue and LK Bennett floral shoes and bag which includes that colour green.

Her hat is bright blue with lime, navy and pink feathers on the side.

So I will look complementary to her without looking like I'm trying to upstage her in any way.

Result.

I think I'll go Navy heels, that Bee Smith hat, so now I just need bag and maybe a wrap.

What do you think of this bag? folksy.com/items/6290671--Clutch-Bag-

Bit homemade? I'm prepared to spend more but it looked like it would work. Ideally I don't want to look too 'bag to go with hat'

Would this work?

tethersend · 03/08/2014 10:33

suede

newrecruit · 04/08/2014 10:49

I do like the suede one.

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 04/08/2014 11:11

Result! Glad you're going with the Bee Smith hat, it's so lovely and fresh. That suede bag is great and I'm with you on the navy shoes too.
