Scuffs on metallic shoes - any advice?

I have a pair of bronze metallic finish leather ballet flats which have acquired a small scuff on the toe. I think it has actually taken off the top layer slightly rather than just being a dirty mark - does anyone know if there's any way of retrieving the situation?

Rub a bit on, leave to dry and buff to a shine.

Thanks tethersend that's brilliant. The only advice I got from Google was to use nail varnish, which seemed a bit - extreme!
