Please can you help me find a dress?

DD is getting married in September, they've decided to move quickly so we've only known about it for a couple of weeks.
Ideally I would have liked a few more months notice to lose some weight!

So I'm MotB, but it's in a registry office so I don't need a pastel suit in a sateen finish with a big hat.
I would like a dress, plain as I am short and probably in Navy Blue as the bridesmaids dresses are peach.

I tried this on today:

www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0214-5142-3554L00&productvarid=0214-5142-3554L00-NAVY%20IVORY-18&refpage=dresses

It was nice but I was frustratingly between a size 12 & 14.
So then I tried this on, on the recommendation of the shop assistant even though I didn't like it very much:

www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0214-5116-9022L00&productvarid=0214-5116-9022L00-NAVY-10&refpage=dresses

It was better on but still not fantastic and a size 10 was much too big for me!

I also tried on pretty much everything in Karen Millen and it was all too young/tight.

Any ideas?

I have just bought this from M&S, navy and ivory. Such a bargain.

I'm a 12/14, tried on both and went with the 12 and it fitted better and gave a better shape.

With the right accessories, it'd look lovely for a wedding.

This one is similar to the first dress you tried?

This is a bargain

I like Tethers dress a lot, though I'd be inclined to change the beading at the waist. But for that price it would be worth the effort!

I really like that thethers, I'd probably leave the beading, I think I could get away with it at a wedding.

Any other ideas?

Thank you Smile

Lovely Reiss one

carrie74 · 31/07/2014 10:19

If you really liked the first one, could you buy the bigger size and have some tailoring done?

Four125 · 31/07/2014 10:39

I like the Reiss one Remus but it's only available in a 14 & 16, I tried a different dress on in Reiss on Tuesday and I was a straight 12 in that.

carrie I did like the first Hobbs dress - but I didn't love it and not enough to buy it and have the tailoring done, probably because I am short and the different top and bottom to the dress meant it cut me off just below my waist so wasn't incredibly flattering.

Might be worth ringing your local store?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/07/2014 10:46
