Hair salon appointment just for toner?

When I get the roots of my hair highlighted the colorist also applies toner which gives my hair a lovely silvery sheen...until I wash it a few days later.

Does toner only work on freshly highlighted hair or can it be applied for a refresher between root appointnents? Could I book an appointment just for wash, toner and blowdry?

yes, i sometimes get the hairdresser to put on a toner when i can it trimmed

yes you can, but you wiuld be better off buying silver shampoo to use every wash to keep the sliver tone.
you can also get the direction pots in silver to put on yourself at home inbetween

I don't know how good they are but there are toning shampoos on the market. Not sure which brand they are but they are specially made for blonde hair.

I am a bit scared to do it at home, I have a leave it to the professionals approach! When I go to the salon next I will book a toner appointment for 3 weeks' time and also ask their advice about toning shampoos.

I have toner put on just after having it coloured and use Pro Voke shampoo and conditioner all the time, never have to go back and have toner again until my next colour, most supermarkets/home bargains sell Pro Voke

my hairdresser said those toning shampoos wouldn't be much good for my hair and it needed a toner, they charged about 15 for it. i did try the lush toner (daddy-o which smells lovely) but it didn't do much for the colour

Thanks, everyone. I think I'd rather have a toner at 3 weeks in and keep using my usual shampoo especially if it's only 15 or so at the salon. But I will ask them about the shampoos anyway.

I think your hair dresser would quite like your business every three weeks. Every range of hair care does a purple shampoo so she will probably sell one

Thanks! You make a good point - they are always pretty busy so I might not be able to get an appointment at only 3 weeks' notice (I can only do evening or weekend appointments as I work).

Aveda Blue Malva and conditioner are really good for ash blinds and grey hair . If you leave on conditioner a bit longer than usual it works as a toner.
