I've given up biting my nails! What colour should I paint them?

So, I'm week 3 of not biting my nails after 30+ a few years of biting them. While I'm a long way away from having talons, I do now have nails I could paint, but as I've never wanted to draw attention to my hands, I'm lacking in nail varnishes, or any idea of which colours fashionable types paint their nails.

Tomorrow, i'll be near a Boots and a couple of salons that sell OPI varnishes, what should I buy? (I have dark red and a pale peach already that I alternate on my toes)

For the past few summers, I have used coral on my fingernails and I love it - it seems to work with whatever outfits I wear and just looks really lovely and fresh I think.

MaryWestmacott · 27/07/2014 14:42

Thank you saurus - coral - shall investigate.

am I right in thinking matchy matchy with your toe nails is the hight of naffness or is that ok again?

Yes definitely coral and maybe a neon or 2. They look lovely in the sunshine!

MaryWestmacott · 27/07/2014 14:46

neon, right, might have to be brave. My nails are still rather short, just about 3 mms of white tip has grown, but I'm terribly proud of them!!!

I think matchy matchy is back! Makes everything looked pulled together.

LuckyLuckyMe · 27/07/2014 14:49

I was going to say coral but I also wanted to say well done on stopping. It's not easy.

MaryWestmacott · 27/07/2014 15:09

yay for being able to be matchy matchy - much easier than thinking about the colours

and thank you for the 'well done' !

on neon, neon what, pinks, yellows, oranges? (Not green, step too far)

I agree on the coral, I'm also a newly converted non nail biter and finding that painting them stops me being tempted to bite/pick them.

Vajazzler · 28/07/2014 07:24

It's got to be pink!

Vajazzler · 28/07/2014 07:25

Models own do a line called polish for tans that are gorgeous.

MaryWestmacott · 28/07/2014 12:41

right, back from nail varnish shopping! Max Factor had a 3 for 2 on so have bought some from them to start me going - as instructed, have bought coral, then a bright blue and a lilac, which might make me look a bit odd, but we'll see. Shall paint this evening once the DCs are in bed.

Yourfrenchiscrap - I am hoping that too! (Particularly my little nails that are really weak)

Yayy! I also love to see blue on toenails with sandals.
