Any recommendations? I see that P20 is on offer in Sainsburys and just wondered if there was something similar which doesn't stain as much.

OK - an update. I've bought Ultrasun from Waitrose - £19 for 150ml (50 ml "free") but cheaper than other places which were £19 for 100ml. Whilst in Sainsburys I noticed Calypso is also on offer - £8 each or two for £13. I had a sniff and it didn't seem too bad but happy with unsmelly, unsticky, unstaining Ultrasun.

Thanks again for recommendation.

I was going to say Ultrasun but you've already got
some - it's amazing. Doesn't stain, rubs in well, doesn't smell and (crucially) works brilliantly. I was out in full sun on Saturday from 7am until sunset and am the same colour I was on Friday, after only one reapplication. Amazing stuff.

UPDATE: So I bought the Ultrasun and managed to get through 150ml in one week between three of us. I've now bought the Calypso to see what it's like (much, much cheaper at £8.50 each or 2 for £13) so yesterday, with the remainder of the Ultrasun, I did a little test and did one side of my body with the Ultrasun and the other with Calypso. The Calypso did indeed have a strong smell to start with, but nothing too dramatic, and seemed to form a film over me, which I guess is what they're both doing.

Anyway, after a day of riding a bike in quite hot sunshine I can report that I have no sunburn, no staining and no skin reaction from the Calypso. So for me personally, it will be the way forward. I'm not sure I'll use it on the children as it seems to have some pretty strong ingredients, but for me it'll be brilliant.

Thank you again for introducing me to both!

Ultrasun yellows white clothes, we use it and all the DCs school polo shirts have yellowed collars. Apart from that it's brilliant though.

I always use Calypso Once a Day. The SPF40 is suitable for kids and it doesn't stain or smell bad.

Tantpoke · 17/08/2017 17:44

I always use P20 and have never had staining, although I do wait 10 mins or so till putting on any swimming costumes or beach wear.
My eyes have been stinging, so at least I now know why
I might try boots once if it's cheaper, but P20 is the best for not burning.

I hate P20, it stains terribly. I burn with Calypso despite being olive skinned and rarely burn. I don't change colour with Piz Buin so it must do it's job. I always buy this, have done for years and i don't find it stains if you're careful

I took advice from this thread on Calypso Once A Day as a sunscreen that doesn't stain clothes and it's simply not true! Has ruined 3 of my favourite white t-shirts using this product. Wish I'd done some proper research instead of using Mumsnet :(
