Has anyone found a dress suitable to wear to a wedding that you can bf in AND is flattering on someone size 16/18 who is short? If you have please tell me where.

I have a wedding to attend at the end of September. Ds is 3 months old and I still have a very rounded tummy. I have been making a real effort to lose weight so I hope to be a size 16 by then. I'm finding shopping for a dress impossible. I want to bf easily. I want to look nice but I'm 5'1 so I'm struggling to find something. I can't be the only short, overweight, breastfeeding woman going to a wedding!

Has anyone seen anything suitable?

bargain, would need glamming up a bit for a wedding.

This might be good if you don't like sleeveless. Easy to bf in, a wrap might make it more "wedding-ie" and useful for feeding too.

Could you call the venue or speak to the bride/groom and see if there is anywhere private to feed in (NOT a toilet cubicle, obviously!!) and this way you can find a dress you feel and look good in and just pop out when baby needs feeding? Baby will be a bit older by then and may need feeding less often?

This might not be helpful but it's what I've done at two weddings this summer - plus as dc2 is now 6 months and very easily distracted it's very difficult for me to feed publicly without flashing Blush

What sort of do is it? Casual? Church? Posh? What colours do you like to wear?

I really rather like this, but it won't be to everyone's taste.

Frugi sale

herecomesthsun · 25/07/2014 21:11

I have the Boden casual jersey dress, was very pleased with it

MrsLettuce · 25/07/2014 21:14

this si great - pretty sure the button front closure is real.

Iamnotanugget · 25/07/2014 22:01

Thank you everyone, there are some lovely dresses out there. I really love the Frugi one but I think it's probably too casual. The whole day is being held at a hotel so it's not very formal but I don't this dress is quite smart enough. Although I'm very tempted just to buy it anyway.

I also like the one Mrs Lettuce suggested but I think I might show a bit too much off if I feed in that. I'm also going to avoid anything that needs handwashing or dry cleaning as with 3 young dc I need something I can just throw in the wash and pull out magically crease free

I really like the bird print, the first dress suggested and the Julien Macdonald one. Thank you again for giving me some ideas.

Yes, I was thinking you'd need a scarf with the zip fronted dress Wink Hadn't seen that the Adrianna Papell was dry clean, sorry about that!

Trickydecision · 26/07/2014 16:30

The bird print is excellent Tethersend, you are a brilliant dress finder.

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:35

Ah, thanks Tricky Smile

I've for last year's Boden jersey dress - it's blue and spotted, cheap on eBay. It did the job at a recent wedding perfectly.

Trickydecision · 27/07/2014 06:41

Thanks, Tethers,I am off to make hay in Primark with it.
