Tried that one on it didn't look right on me , so ended up with this one which I don't think the picture does it justice Standcollarjacket

Love it, best jacket I have bought in ages.

I think it was just the belt thingy that didn't suit my shape - i am very tall but just not naturally slim!

Kelly1978 · 13/09/2006 22:02

I really like megaleg's one. I have soemthing a bit liek that style and wore it loads last winter. I think that would look great with jeans and boots.

Beauregard · 13/09/2006 22:03

Like them both but have never bought anything from long tall sally as i think they are very overpriced ,i mean for example evans doesn't bump their prices up for their target market so why should tall women have to pay more.

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 13/09/2006 22:09

I agree that they seem overpriced compared with Evans, pfnm, but OTOH there are a lot more big women than extra-tall women - economies of scale and all that.

Prefer dottyP meself though - prices better, and LTS bottoms are too long and the tops too skimpy. (I'm 6', 34" leg in flats, size 16-18 bottom and 20-22 top)

vicksie · 13/09/2006 22:09

Agree totally pelvicfloor, have always struggled with clothes, LTS are very overpriced for not that better quality but I was specifically looking for a jacket and after trying loads of shops walked in and that was the second jacket I tried on - it is the arms with me I like to feel the full length which unfortunately other shops just don't cater for, but I do try to avoid LTS generally.

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 13/09/2006 22:12

I have 3 pairs of these - love 'em! (Wear them to work - don't do exercise )

Kelly1978 · 13/09/2006 22:14

I know what you mean, I lvoe the feel of sleeves taht actually come down to my wrist!
I only have a coupel of bits from lts, don't liek much of their range.

fattiemumma · 13/09/2006 22:15

used to go to LTS a lot before i discovered Dotty P's had a tall range.

i have just bought a coat from a shop caled Bon MArche (??) it looks like an old lady shop from the outside but the coat was in the window and i loved it. its a 3/4 length very similar to the one on that Tesco ad...you know the black and white one.

anyway i loved it but didn't think for a minute it would fit me but WOOHOO IT DID! even the sleeves hit me at just about the right place.
so im quite impressed...most of all at the price. £45!

vicksie · 13/09/2006 22:18

I get very annoyed at the limited range for tall women. I love Dotty P but they seem to not have much choice!

my sister uses www.tallgirls.co.uk and really rates them, also i think NEXT has improved I can live in their jeans and feel comfortable with the length, LTS length can be far too long for me!

Beauregard · 13/09/2006 22:21

I buy all my trousers from next
I have had tops from la roudoute before and the sleeves on them have been long also h&m are very generous in sleeve length.

vicksie · 13/09/2006 22:30

I will give la redoute a try - yes I agree H&M are also good - never tried their trousers though - sorry MegaLegs never meant to hijack your thread, but just went off on a subject I know well!
I hate been tall and I hate shopping for clothes just ask my husband!

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 13/09/2006 22:32

Ooh, also I got some nice cotton trousers from Tesco last summer - their long length was just about OK (and very cheap!)

fattiemumma · 13/09/2006 22:37

Also ASDA npow do some of their ranges in LONG. its a bit hit and miss but i have managed to find a couple of pairs of trousers that are OK.

mind you i have exceptionally long legs, 36' inside leg, so those of you who area little more fortunate would prbabably be able to find more.
they are incredibly cheap too, i have seen some in there for as little as £5!

I also get to the stage where i hate shopping for clothes as i get really frustrated.
i am Tall 6'1 but not very thin and i find you can be tall; OR fat but not both.
New look has a tall range but it on;y goes to an 18 i think, and its quite limited.

themoon66 · 14/09/2006 09:52

Next trousers are all ankle flappers I find. As are tesco and asda. Trouser buying is a nightmare. I always end up in LTS for smart trousers and Gap for jeans. I tried Topshop tall trousers. They are lovely and long in the leg, but the crotch to waistband length is so tiny your knickers show and they would probably expose your entire arse if you sat down.

If I fancy anything in LTS I always wait for the on-line sale.

MegaLegs · 14/09/2006 10:21

I agree with PFNM about the prices at LTS and that we shouldn't have to pay over the odds for being tall, but the past two seasons I've actually found a couple of bits worth buying as the quality seemed a bit better. Top Shop and Dotty P's still best for jeans - my inside leg is 39"!!- but the rest of DP's tall range is poor, they did have some good, long, puffy sleevd t-shirts this summer which I have in every colour and have lived in. Love H&M for tops and skirts. Tall girls (aimed at the younger market I think) have a limited range of clothes, good jeans and excellent shoes although unfortunately their service seems a bit hit and miss! I've been 6'2" since I was 13 and it's only in the past 5 years that shopping has become more of a pleasure.

don't really like LTS stuff but need a few basics from there. also not quite tall enough for it (at 5'10"!). sleeves too long, legs too long etc etc but all high-st stuff generally is too short.Where do you go if you're in-between the 2? there must be tons of us. Not a Dottie P fan either, btw nor one for next. Prefer to spend more less often to get good quality items if i can.

MissChief · 14/09/2006 10:26

meant to say, I like it.good for tallpeople! doesn't look brown tho, or is that just me?
