Facial pigmentation from the sun - can it be reversed?

I've realised too late that I should have been using more SPF - I have a few tiny bits of pigmentation on one cheek which are probably invisible to other people but I'm hoping there is something I can do.

In the meantime I've increased the SPF I'm using every day, especially in the sunny weather.

I'm 40. Is there anything that will work? Might it go on its own?

Thanks

There are lots of serums etc which claim to help. It won't go on it's own.

Ingredients which are supposed to help include Vit C and anti-oxidants, retinol, kojic acid, alpha arbutin, niacinamide and glucosamine. I have a sinking feeling they only work at concentrations not available over the counter.

I've been using Medik8 White Balance and LRP Re-dermic for about 3 weeks and think there is a difference but not sure.

If you are really serious then go to an Obagi clinic as they will prescribe a Vit C, retinol and hydroquinone cream which really does work. Or a laser clinic which also works.

I'm not convinced mine is bad enough for that as I suspect it's only visible to me.

Thee are a few things you can do. A few IPL sessions will get rid of it very quickly. And then be vigilant about sunscreen use.
Glycolic peels, salicylic peels, any treatment that 'peels' your skin will help. You could use a moisturiser with salicylic or glycolic in it too, as long as it's a decent concentration, and it will help but the result will be slower.

Or the granddaddy of them all, Retin A. It needs to be prescribed and some find it difficult to tolerate but it works. Has the lovely added effect of reversing signs of ageing too!

Think dermaroller can help..

I had sun spots all over my hands after spending a year in Oz, LRP Active C got rid of them

Retinol. Look on EBay for stockists.
