What to wear to school reunion?

It's at a local pub, BBQ and drinks. I'm a size 20 5ft 9 and biggest around hips and tummy. I want to look and feel good, making the statement that I'm much mire together than I was when at school! I'm 36...

What do you feel most comfortable in? If you carry most of your weight around your hips (as I do) I'd probably go for something in an empire line. Accentuate your boobs and have something flowy around the hips. Dark colours are more forgiving (if you feel self-conscious of an area) and a statement necklace and heels will draw the eye away from your middle.

Something like this could work well.

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:21

Or this

What's your budget and usual style?

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:24

nice and simple and you're tall enough to wear midi length well.

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:26

purple

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:30

shorter kimono style

tethersend · 26/07/2014 19:32

orange

cheekymonk · 26/07/2014 21:16

Thanks tethers end I like the purple best. I'm quite casual but I like to be feminine. Am really lacking confidence at the moment Hmm

I really rather like this. Do you actually like to wear dresses, trousers would be at least as good. IMO understated is better than dressy for these things, gives more of an air of confidence.

cheekymonk · 26/07/2014 21:39

I do like dresses yes mrslettuce. I do like that dress too thank youGrin

A good pair of Fuck-You-All shoes really helps too, probably even better with you already being tall. Could you maybe stretch to these? They'd be fine on grass.

cheekymonk · 26/07/2014 21:55

Having trouble clicking on link also I am a size 9 Hmm

9 is in stock - Dorothy Perkins 'Black high chunky sandals'

cheekymonk · 26/07/2014 22:02

I like the black block heel sandals more I would never walk in those you have suggested but they are fabulous!

MrsLettuce · 26/07/2014 22:06

Me neither, way to high!

These one? Like those too. Similar but wedges here.

MrsLettuce · 26/07/2014 22:07

too high, way, way too high.
