have a v nice charcoal grey dress - not tight fitting, sort of low cut and length is down to just below my knee and will wear it with smart cardi/jacket

or have suit trousers that I can wear with smart top

problem being that I have horrid, heavy period so have to wear stonking great pad with my tampon otherwise there will literally be a blood bath

I have posed in mirror and I think pad is less noticeable with the dress (and if I do leak, it will prob be less noticeable) however, I am v much a trousers gal

I think go for the dress. Sounds like your self-consciousness over the pad will wipe out being a trousers gal, IYSWIM.

thanks mi

very unlike me to be nervous about this sort of thing but have visions of totally embarrassing myself in public!

Horrid periods knock one out totally, I find. I myself have no posho clothes at all, so take my hat off to you.

it's a dh do (so you can imagine the sort of peeps who will be there aarrrgghh ) - I don't really do posh but luckily have some clothes that fit from the last time I was working!

Thought it must be him!

I managed to score a pair of new Gap black narrow trousers for my new job, last week. Middle aged mum cliche, of course, but an improvement on drifting in looking all bohohippy.

lol

hope new job is going well (have you started?)

black trousers are the start of a long procession of 'work' clothes out there waiting for you to buy! It's a slippery slope - before you know it your wardrobe will be looking like that of an accountant!

I have to go and try to miraculously transform myself from an anaemic looking scarecrow into something resembling chic so I better be off! xxx
