I've just bought this www.johnlewis.com/hobbs-nw3-flower-laser-cut-dress-well-blue/p1469068?kpid=233634305&s_kenid=5c1ca6b4-c720-6188-4af1-0000776416e9&s_kwcid=106x50203&tmad=c&tmcampid=73

I wanted something pretty conservative - past the knee, with a high neck - as I'll be running after my toddler all day so want to be well covered. The dress is fine but I'm in danger of looking frumpy (only 30, size 8, OK looks) if I don't get the rest of the outfit right.

Any ideas?

How about a statement necklace? Zara do some nice ones. Or drop earrings instead? I think I'll wear my hair up.

I need a bracelet. I'm an autumn so need gold / warm tones for any jewellery.

Shoes?

I like this Ted Baker bag having seen it in person. www.tedbaker.com/uk/Womens/Accessories/Bags/AILEY-Bow-clutch-bag-Taupe/p/114762-28-TAUPE

I would SO appreciate your help.

I don't see the dress on the John Lewis site anymore. Is it this one:
www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0114-5868-3873L00&productvarid=0114-5868-3873L00-WELL%20BLUE-8&refpage=search/results

If so, and your hair is up, I'd go for pretty earrings. I'm sure wiser folk will be along shortly.

samesh1t · 21/07/2014 19:37

Yes, that's the one! Thank you :)

Mine is the NAVY one.

I like it. But then I have something very similar that I wore to a wedding a couple of years ago! Colour contrasting accessories would be good - the Ted Baker bag is nice but personally I'd go for something brighter like a cerise pink and shoes to match. Oasis have these shoes - m.oasis-stores.com//fashion/oasis/fcp-product/6570000848?gclid=CjwKEAjw9LKeBRDurOugs43jnlgSJACUXqHxxwdhjxoZ05-bCTbOhSRsHJCzcTm9qJ8WQCIPUvlOqxoCzQzw_wcB

Sorry - clearly can't do links Hmm. If you search for Eve mid heel court in their web site you'll find them.

whereisshe · 21/07/2014 20:23

I agree on the contrasting accessories, eg something like this and this, with a fairly neutral nude court?

samesh1t · 21/07/2014 20:35

Thanks for the ideas. I agree that contrasting accessories will be best.

I like the idea of that necklace but don't think it's 'me'

What do you guys think of red as the contrasting colour?

Quite like these > www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,33/1761860033

More statement?

NanooCov · 21/07/2014 21:27

Ooh yes to coral. Love that therapy clutch.

whereisshe · 21/07/2014 22:13

If you're an autumn red and navy might read as a bit cool-toned? Also a bit air hostess...

MrsLettuce · 21/07/2014 22:31

Understand about the TB bag but I'm afraid it'd up rather than down any frum factor with the (lovely) dress. Is it actually navy? Looks like a deep cobalt from the photos Confused

these earrings are fabulous, I think. Love this too.

MrsLettuce · 21/07/2014 22:51

Sorry, I forgot to say that I fear everylady and her aunt will be wearing statement collars / necklaces - the potential for them to infect you with an as-yet-unknown strain of frump may exist.

do you happen to take a size 7 shoe? Would be lovely with a a non-brash gold clutch

MrsLettuce · 21/07/2014 23:01

bag? - they're calling it bronze.
this, this or this could be delightful

whereisshe · 22/07/2014 06:30

Ooh I love those Tory Burch earrings MrsLettuce.

A different colour option in the jewellery?

whereisshe · 22/07/2014 06:30

Or something a bit more delicate?

whereisshe · 22/07/2014 06:32

I see the point about statement necklaces. They are everywhere. But I like this.

GretchenWiener · 22/07/2014 06:39

The bags dull. Get some coloured shoes high

Mind you if you bought a covering dress as you're running after a toddler all day..,

Why can't h do the running?
