Online order cancelled by retailer without notice

Is this usual? I ordered a pair of sandals from a large shoe retailer 5 days ago. Ordered direct from their website as my size not available in store. It dawned on me earlier that I haven't had an update so I went into my account online and the status is cancelled Sad. I've never had this happen before; is it uncommon?

Is it because they're out of stock?

Laska42 · 20/07/2014 21:08

Havent had it happen to me..what company was it? are they still in stock?.. if so could it be that you entered your credit card details incorrectly? (Though i remenmber once getting a notification from John Lewis that i'd done that and asking me to reorder )

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 20/07/2014 21:21

It was Office. I just looked and they seem to be in stock on the website. I got an order confirmation email just after I placed the order, nothing since. I'll be so ragey if I don't get them, I have tried and failed to get 6 pairs of tan wedges and these finally seemed to be available! I've emailed them, hopefully they'll reply tomorrow.

I knew it would be Office even before you said, their online service is rubbish.

Hetaera · 21/07/2014 10:04

Office online is appalling. I'd always advise people to try and get the item they want elsewhere. Had my fingers very badly burned by that company in 2007 after their unforgiveable customer service and have happily spent all of my money elsewhere since then!

They'll just say it is due to sale time/high demand on stock etc, but have a look online at the types of complaints people make about them.

Greengardenpixie · 21/07/2014 10:50

I have had this before..cant remember which company. Think it was white stuff...but they were out of stock and the email eventually came. Very annoying though.

Unexpected · 21/07/2014 10:55

Have had the same with Office previously. I avoid them online now.

LadySybilLikesCake · 21/07/2014 11:00

Coggs did this. It didn't bode well as it was the first (and last) order I ever made with them and it took a week for a refund Angry For the next year they sent me weekly emails and the 'unsubscribe' button wouldn't work. I had to log in and change my email address to a fake one to make them stop.

LadySybilLikesCake · 21/07/2014 11:03

Cloggs, not coggs.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 21/07/2014 11:26

Well, I'm in the middle of a very long email exchange with their customer service people. They are saying my card details (which processed fine at the time) don't match my bank's information. They don't seem to understand that the site wouldn't allow me to put in my correct billing address as I was using a UK delivery address. I seem destined not to find a pair of tan leather wedges this year...

Oh, joy. Can you try somewhere else?

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 21/07/2014 17:06

They last email I got from Office very helpfully explained the difference between my billing and delivery addresses. Thanks for that.

Anyway, I happened to pass a Clarks where I've called in 3 times in the last month hoping to find eye a pair that no shop in a 50 mile drive had in my size, and would you believe, they had them there today! It's the first of the 6 different ones I had tried to get, and had completely given up hope. The icing on the cake is there were 20 quid cheaper too! Grin Obviously, they are meant to be.
